WHEN IN ROME! A half marathon with some sightseeing - not during the race. That was a highway leading to a random far away place πŸ‘€

We had fun and we also didn't get lost! Much! I got lost on the way back from my run this morning. That's what Google maps is for! Result!

Also got my fridge magnets and am ready to keep training for my marathon in April.

Lots of Carbonara. A little pizza and some Colosseum Vatican and Trevi Fountain spotting!

ROMA OSTIA HALF!

A sneaky half in Rome because, I've never been there! My friend, and I took this one on.

After freezing for 2 hours waiting to start. We set off... to weave for the first mile to get through the crowds! πŸ™ƒ
The course had some long inclines that sapped my legs midway but I fought for it.

Why was I dancing on the stage next to the DJ and then salsa dancing after the race? I was glad to be done and the endorphins (and music) were on point!πŸ’ƒπŸΎ

So thankful I could fight through with my recent bout of anaemia (still not fully sorted but we must keep moving). I'm glad my Coach and I scaled back the paces and interval runs for a few weeks to allow some bounce back with increased oral iron supplementation. Being a woman is hard. I love running but being healthy means I lose a lot of iron stores each month.

We keep moving.

17 MILES TODAY.

With 2 x 2 miles and 1Γ— 1-mile uptempo during.

I caught a cough earlier this week, which was rearing its ugly head from Tuesday night.

On the upside, it didn't really bother me during the day of the run, though I didn't feel winded at times.

πŸ“Έ from mid-week when I had to talk myself off the bed after work. Some snacks were in order to help as I'm mid-fast now.

I'm glad the long runs are coming along. I just feel really bored on the cool downs. I am using podcasts for that.

FIRST COROS RUN!

Started nice and slow...he he. Then used the heart rate to ensure I kept it easy (would ease up when over 154bpm).

Those longer hills really tested my resolve as always.

Hopefully, as I rebuild my iron stores, I'll feel less heavy in the legs again. My breathing isn't an issue (?3rd lung, is that you?). My legs feel heavy. Week after the 🩸will do that to you.

15 MILES!

5 miles up, then managed 13 out of 15 planned 1 minute surges every 5 mins thereafter. Watch died. Used my phone to track my run home (its GPS was very spotty).

We move. I am sore and tired but got it done.
Oh and the snow at midnight? I'm so thankful for the rain. Even i it soaked me midrun onwards!

800'S AFTER WORK!


I lowkey obsessed and worried about this run. Decided at rep 5 that I would only do 8, not 10, since I almost stacked it at the end of #5.

Managed to run it and did the extra 3 Γ— 200m reps at the end.

Hoping to get my speed endurance in again.

14 MILES: 3RD LUNG REIGNS SUPREME!

I just ran continuously for the first time since August outside of a marathon (because I can run 26.2 miles at the best party of my legs).

I felt so easy and enjoyed and Emily Palmer and now Christine Thorn Fletcher.

Really wish I'd gotten into the London marathon for this coming year. Have to look into this because I love that race, and it feels like something is missing right now.
