We ran our first Group Consultation session for patients with Diabetes this week. This was led by GP Maria Hatton who has a special interest in integrative medicine, along with our dieticians Juan and Alice and GP Simon Read. It was very popular and our "Health Innovation Hub" was filled with the smell of delicious cooking, the sound of music, and conversation. We had a presentation on healthy food choices, and goal setting, with decent coffee and tea, then a session on cooking together, eating together, and learning from one another.

Lonsdale's "Monday Mile Club" Starts this Monday 13th March: a social walking group meeting at the Lonsdale " (in the cafe / gym downstairs next to the waiting room) at 10.30 to head out on a friendly, relaxed walk around Queens Park (1 mile): everyone welcome, all speeds and abilities! Come along for tea/ chat and some Monday fresh air! the group is welcome to head back to the Lonsdale for hot drinks and conversation after as well. Please also come along to our Wednesday Wellbeing Cafe group, every Wednesday 11-1pm for healthy food, company, singing and support.

Well-being cafe.. We are running our weekly Wednesday wellbeing cafe sessions 11-1pm and they are proving popular! Please join us for tea/ chat/ healthy cooking and company, music, and chair physio.. maybe this week even some ballroom dancing! The sessions are drop-in, you don't need to book.

Last night's Patient Participation Group Meeting was the first of 2023: it was well attended and very nice to see everyone over tea and some food. We have a new dietician joining our team called Mr. Juan Bedoya who has a specialist interest in Paediatric dietetics. This includes nutritional assessment, overweight and obesity, malnutrition, allergies and food intolerances, and intestinal problems like irritable bowel, inflammatory bowel disease, diarrhoea, and constipation. If you would like an appointment (Wednesdays and Fridays at the moment), please contact reception to arrange this.

NEW! Saturday Nurse and HCA appointments at Lonsdale Medical Centre. We are now open on Saturdays from 9-3pm for nurse and health care assistant (HCA) appointments. We are also working with our PCN team to provide pre-booked GP appointments on Saturdays for urgent issues (pre-booked only, not walk in).

Nursing appointments are for smears, simple wound dressings, zoladex and depot provera. The HCA appointments are for blood tests (over 14y/o), blood pressure checks and NHS Health checks. If you would like to book one of these appointments please speak to a member of the reception team.

Calling all Carers! "Brent Carers Centre" are at our practice every Tuesday morning. Look out for the lovely team in the waiting room: there to give advice and help and support for all unpaid adult and young carers. "To ensure that unpaid carers are recognized, valued and supported to live rather than just exist"

One-stop Diabetes Days 24th/ 25th January

We are running two special days this month for our patients with diabetes who are due for their retinal eye screening: the Brent retinal screening team is coming to the practice on the 24th and 25th of January and will be performing eye screening checks for patients who have diabetes and are overdue this important eye check. We are making this a "one-stop clinic" for those patients who are booked in so that they can have all of their other diabetes health checks done on the same visit, all with a warm welcome and a cup of tea/ coffee and chat.

"Children with possible scarlet fever /flu-like symptoms" for the month of January 2023, we are opening additional Saturday morning clinics for children (under 16's) who have symptoms of scarlet fever (Group A Strep) or a current flu-like illness. These are in addition to our other appointments. These slots open a day before and can be booked via the reception team or via the app.

Strep A (Scarlet fever) infection information for patients:

For most children, scarlet fever is a mild illness easily treated with antibiotics.
