Our Founder and Nutritionist Rhian Stephenson often makes these for her kids, and they’re always a big hit. They’re quick and easy to prepare, and work as a naturally sweet snack that still delivers solid nutrition – each ball contains 2g of fibre and 2.6g of protein.

They’re great for travelling, as a dessert, or for long days out when the kids are constantly on the go. 💫

INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup walnuts
1/2 cup cashews
1/4 cup toasted buckwheat
12 medjool dates
3 tbsp raw cacao
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 tbsp ground almonds (optional)
1 tbsp water
1 tsp coconut oil (optional)
Desiccated coconut (optional)

METHOD:
1. Pulse the nuts in a food processor until crumbly. Add dates, cacao, water, and vanilla and pulse again.
2. Take a little and try to press it together - if it feels a little too crumbly, add the coconut oil or alternatively, you could add another date.
3. This recipe makes 15 balls. Roll them in coconut and store in the fridge or freezer.

More salt ≠ better performance 🧂🚫
Hydration isn’t about adding more salt - it’s about restoring balance.

Dr Rupy Aujla MD (The Doctor's Kitchen) and Rhian Stephenson sat down to unpack why low-sodium electrolytes are the smarter choice and why more sodium can sometimes do more harm than good.

Berberine is a naturally occurring phytonutrient found in plants like barberry, Oregon grape and goldenseal. It has a long history of traditional use in the context of:

- Digestive balance and microbiome health
- Seasonal wellness and traditional “clearing/cleansing” frameworks
- Energy balance and metabolism

In traditional herbal systems, “clearing” and “cleansing” rituals are used to help us rebalance - especially after seasonal shifts, heavier foods, travel, or disrupted routines. In TCM, Berberine rich plants as traditionally linked to patterns like digestive heaviness, feeling sluggish in your metabolism, or feeling run down. Today, that same idea is being explored through a modern lens—berberine is widely studied for its role in cellular energy signalling and metabolic markers.

In human studies, berberine has been associated with:
- Metabolic changes: Mechanistically, berberine has been found to activate AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase) - often described as a cellular “energy sensor” involved in how cells manage energy availability and metabolic signalling.

- Microbiome health: Berberine has numerous gut-mediated effects. Preclinical work shows that berberine can increase the abundance of a keystone species called Akkermansia muciniphila, which strengthens the intestinal lining and improves glucose tolerance.

Fibre is a cornerstone of health, supporting digestion, satiety, and overall wellbeing. Naturally found in foods like oats, lentils, and berries, it’s a key macronutrient to prioritise.

But if changing your routine feels overwhelming, a fibre supplement can help bridge the gap between your current intake and the recommended 30g per day, giving you the space to gradually build healthier habits. Rhian Stephenson explains all.
