โ€œYour Metabolic Shiftโ€ has been born
Yesterday, my publisher passed Your Metabolic Shift to the distributor, a moment I had long awaited but one that arrived with all the intensity of a delivery room. Up to the very last moment, I was still inserting acknowledgements and final reviews, while working with the publishing agent to finalise the cover colour, interior paper, and design.
The pressure was immense. We were racing to upload the book to Amazon so that a supplement company could feature it at a medical conference just one week away. I found myself sending urgent messages to potential reviewers, asking for anything, no matter how brief, that could be included in the book before uploading it.
One reviewer wrote his testimonial while waiting for a flight to New York. Another, on sick leave, kindly sent his review despite not feeling well. Their generosity touched me deeply. Others, understandably, couldnโ€™t respond in time, perhaps caught in work commitments or time zones.
As the final upload to the distributorโ€™s press began, the tension reminded me of my days in the labour room over 45 years ago. Back then, the delivery team worked tirelessly to ensure the safe arrival of every newborn, while anxious families waited outside for news. I never imagined that delivering a book would feel so similar โ€” publisher, distributor, and author all working in concert, anxious yet hopeful, each determined to ensure a perfect baby book.
In the end, Your Metabolic Shift was safely โ€œdelivered.โ€ And like every newborn, it will soon go out into the world, ready to grow, evolve, and, I hope, make a positive impact on peopleโ€™s lives.
