Shanti Sadan

Shanti Sadan Shanti Sadan is a centre of the traditional teachings of Advaita Vedanta (non-duality) and Adhyatma Yoga (the way to Self-Knowledge).

Non-duality is the idea that reality is really one, not many (that is a very simple, logical idea, after all!)

Divisions and separations are set up by the way minds work. That is fine for day-to-day living. But when we come to the big questions, we have to go beyond appearances in the mind. This is where spiritual enquiry and meditation begins. It is the way to completeness and fulfilment. These teachings are based on the Upanisads and Bhagavad Gita, and the same ideas are found at the heart of all the great religions and cultural traditions. Shanti Sadan was founded by Hari Prasad Shastri, who came from a long line of traditional teachers of Self-Knowledge.

More light from the Kena Upanishad
From the latest issue of Self-Knowledge Journal.

The Upanishads are of interest because they throw light on the deepest aspect of human nature. Their enquiry does not end with the life of the mind, or with the store of experiences and tendencies that we feel is uniquely our own.
