All cells in and on our body, 90% are bacteria. The intestinal flora is therefore called the body's largest "organ". It has been mentioned so far that the normal bacterial flora consists of about 1200 different species, but recent studies show that the number of species is likely to be much larger.

From biochemical reactions taking place at the cellular level to what you see and feel in the body as a whole. Food turns on or off the good or bad genes in your body. The pH of the intestine is very important for its function. The stomach has a low pH of about 2-4. In the small intestine, pH rises as time goes on. Lactic acid cultures thrive best in acidic environments, while decomposition bacteria prefer a basic environment.
In the gut, there is bacterial warfare between fermenting bacteria such as lactic acid bacteria and decomposition bacteria. Fermenting bacteria produce organic acids such as lactic acid, which lowers the pH and thus counteracts the growth of these decomposition bacteria.
Decomposition bacteria produce ammonia which raises pH which favors their growth. If pH in the intestine rises, harmful decomposition bacteria have the ability to grow and become more active and can cause great damage. The harmful form of Candida thrives in a basic environment.
An elevated pH may be due to poor production of hydrochloric acid or prolonged intake of hydrochloric acid inhibitors, antibiotic treatment that has killed the beneficial bacteria and given free rein to decomposition bacteria, constipation, poor peristaltic and poor diets, etc.

Only substances that the body can use and recognize should be allowed to pass through the intestinal mucosa.
Many diseases are associated with a leaking intestine. Intestinal barriers protect us from harmful substances and dangerous microorganisms reaching the intestine. Probiotics, which heal the lining of the intestine and strengthen the barrier, are the solution!
