📢Daily reminder to prioritise your posture!📢

Good posture is crucial for your overall health and well-being. It can prevent back pain, reduce strain on your muscles, and even boost your confidence. Let's make a habit of doing a daily posture check!

Why is Good Posture Important?
▪️Reduces Back Pain: Proper alignment of the spine decreases the risk of chronic back pain.
▪️Increases Energy: Less strain on your muscles means more energy for your daily activities.
▪️Boosts Confidence: Standing tall can improve your mood and self-esteem.

How to Do a Daily Posture Check:

▪️Stand Tall: Imagine a string pulling you up from the top of your head. This helps to elongate your spine.
▪️Engage Your Core: Slightly tighten your abdominal muscles to support your spine. Imagine trying to slip on that extra tight pair of jeans – use those muscles.
▪️Even Weight Distribution: Distribute your weight evenly on both feet. Avoid leaning on one side.
▪️Relax Your Shoulders: Keep your shoulders back and down, away from your ears.

Kinesiology taping (or ‘K-tape’) involves using a special elastic tape to support and stabilise muscles and joints without restricting movement. It’s used for pain relief, reducing inflammation, enhancing performance and aiding recovery.

While stores sell Kinesiology tape and fitness influencers create numerous reels about applying your own tape, did you know that without expert advice, you might exacerbate your condition instead of alleviating it?

Thinking of using kinesiology tape by following YouTube or viral videos? Here’s why it can be risky without professional advice or guidance:

❗️Improper Application: Incorrect taping techniques can lead to ineffective support or even injury. For example, incorrect taping on the foot for Plantar fasciitis can result in damaging a nerve.

❗️Individual Differences: Everyone’s body and injury are unique. What works for one person might not work for you.

❗️Missed Underlying Issues: Taping might mask pain without addressing the root cause, leading to further complications.

For safe and effective use, always consult a physiotherapist to ensure that taping is the right solution for you.

The good news is, PhysioEdge’s owner and director, Gill, created an informative taping guide to provide professional guidance on applying your own tape. This guide aims to help you avoid injury and empower you on your healing journey. This guide can be purchased online or in one of our clinics.

Have a query on 'K-tape' and if it is right for you? Give us a call or email to set up an appointment to have an assessment with one of our Physiotherapists.

📢NEW SERVICE ALERT📢

Intra-Articular Hyaluronic Acid Injection for Knee Osteoarthritis: Hyaluronic acid injections play a vital role in managing knee osteoarthritis pain and stiffness. Can you believe it? We're already halfway through the year! Time flies when you're making memories, chasing dreams, and living life to the fullest.

It's the perfect time for a Mid-Year Check-In on those New Year's Resolutions we set back in January. Whether you’re smashing your goals or have hit a few bumps along the way, let's take a moment to reflect and refocus.

What were the resolutions you set? Have they changed or evolved? Remember, goal can change and adapt to what suits you best. Adjusting a goal is not failing.

Celebrate the milestones you’ve reached, no matter how small. Every step counts!
Remind yourself why you set these goals in the first place. Let that passion reignite your drive.

Stay Positive: Even if you've strayed off course, it’s never too late to start again. Every day is a new opportunity.

Stay Accountable: Share your goals with friends, family, or a community group. Their support can be incredibly motivating.

Remember, it’s not about perfection; it’s about progress. Keep moving forward, and let’s make the second half of the year just as amazing as the first!
We believe in you!

Regards,
The PhysioEdge Team

It’s that time of the year again and we are beyond excited for Wimbledon! The grass courts, the epic rallies, and the legendary moments—Wimbledon is the pinnacle of tennis greatness. Let's gear up for the excitement and also chat about common tennis injuries and how physio can keep you in top form!

Tennis is thrilling, but it’s tough on the body. Here are a few injuries we often see:
🎾Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis): This is caused by overuse of the forearm muscles can cause pain and inflammation.
🎾Rotator Cuff Injuries: This is caused by repetitive overhead movements that can strain the shoulder.
🎾Ankle Sprains: Quick changes in direction can lead to rolled ankles.
🎾Knee Injuries: Constant stopping and starting can stress the knees.
🎾Back Pain: Serving and groundstrokes can strain the lower back.

The good news is, physiotherapy can assist with these injuries by using techniques like manual therapy, taping and when applicable, Focus Shockwave Therapy. Our Physiotherapist will also provide customised exercise program to strengthen and protect against common injuries.

To all the incredible athletes taking the stage at Wimbledon, we’re cheering you on! May your serves be swift, your volleys sharp, and your spirits high. You've got this!

SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!☀️

With temperatures rising to a whopping 28 degrees this week, staying hydrated isn't just a suggestion—it's a must for keeping your muscles (and your body) in peak condition.

Here's why you should keep that water bottle close:

Optimal Muscle Performance: Did you know your muscles are 75% water? Without enough hydration, you're looking at cramps, fatigue, and decreased strength. Let's keep those muscles working like a well-oiled machine!

Regulate Your Body Temp: Sweating is your body’s natural air conditioning, but it also means losing fluids. Proper hydration helps you stay cool and avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Joint & Muscle Lubrication: Hydration helps keep your joints lubed up and your muscles supple, reducing the risk of strains and sprains. Let's keep those movements smooth and injury-free!

Enhanced Endurance: Hydrated muscles can go the distance, reducing fatigue and boosting your stamina. Don’t let dehydration cut your workout short!

Top Tips for Staying Hydrated:
💧Sip water regularly, don’t wait until you're thirsty.
💧Use electrolyte drinks, especially during intense activities.
💧Snack on hydrating foods like watermelon and cucumbers.
💧Cut back on caffeine, alcohol and soda—they can dehydrate you!

So, grab your water bottle and let’s keep those muscles happy and healthy together!
