Subthreshold bipolar disorder, also known as 'bipolar disorder not otherwise specified' (BD-NOS), is a condition that shares many characteristics with bipolar disorder, yet doesn't meet the full diagnostic criteria for the disorder. Despite this, it can still have a significant impact on an individual's life.
Those with subthreshold bipolar experience mood swings, similar to those with bipolar disorder. They may go through periods of elevated moods (hypomania) and then transition to periods of sadness or low energy (depression). These mood changes can be distressing and impact daily life and relationships.
The main difference between subthreshold bipolar and bipolar disorder lies in the duration and intensity of these mood episodes. In subthreshold bipolar, the episodes may be shorter, less severe or occur less frequently than in full-blown bipolar disorder. However, it's important to note that subthreshold bipolar is not a "lesser" condition but rather a distinct variant of bipolar disorder.
BD-NOS can be treated using The Zamar Protocol™ (Precision guided high-dose thyroid hormones and rTMS protocol) a patented combination of precision medicine-guided High-Dose Levothyroxine (HDL) and mitochondrial treatment with repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS). This is an effective alternative to traditional bipolar disorder treatment that has few - if any - side effects, and very few medications.
