Homemade banana bread, toasted, with Greek yogurt, berry’s, nuts and honey. So comforting on a cold morning and guaranteed to keep me full until lunch. I hate waste and using bananas to make a loaf (remember Covid times) when they’re starting to turn stops then going in the bin. It’s also easy to slice and freeze so don’t feel you have to eat the whole loaf in just a few days.

The W.H.O. define health as ‘not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, but a state of physical, mental and social wellbeing.

As a coach, I help my clients progress towards improved health by assisting them in changing their daily behaviours, ensuring none of these areas are neglected, this means much more than ‘just food’ or ‘just exercise’.

Eggs with portobello mushrooms, avocado and a sprinkle of feta cheese and mixed seeds? Yes please. Plenty of protein and good healthy fats. Fats are important, don’t shy away from monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.

We need healthy fats for heart health (they help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and raise HDL (good) cholesterol), support nutrient absorption, brain function, hormone production, reduce inflammation and help you feel full.

Reflecting on this question is a great starting point.

Using self-reflection is the process of consciously examining your experiences, thoughts, and behaviors to increase self-awareness and improve performance.

Do you ask yourself questions like this? Understanding what is and isn’t working for you starts you on the path to meaningful changes.

On the menu today was just a mezze of things in the fridge but seeing such colour and texture makes it so appealing and the taste was delicious. Good quality rye bread is a perfect way to serve nearly anything, I loaded it up with cottage cheese, sauerkraut, beetroot, cucumber and cherry tomatoes. A little bit of extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of seasoning just finishes it off. I did this at home but it could easily go in a lunch box too.
What did you have for lunch today? Was it planned or thrown together last minute? Is there one thing you could do to make tomorrow’s lunch that little more healthy/filling/enjoyable?

Here I am. Preparing for a client call starting shortly. Sat at my little desk, surrounded by inspiring books (mainly on the ‘still to read’ list), pen and paper and tech combined. Bottle of water and cup of tea for hydration.

Every single client is unique and every session is different but each call will have a common thread... What’s going well, what are the challenges and what’s the focus. I hope my clients will leave each session feeling more positive, clearer on what they want and with some tools to help them achieve that.

What are your challenges and goals? Get in touch to discuss how coaching could help you overcome barriers and become a happier, healthier version of yourself.

Hosting leftovers. Worried about over catering when friends come round? Just think of the ‘free’, no hassle lunches for the next few days. I love to make multiple sides if we’re having a BBQ as it means there’s always something for everyone but usually leftover too.

Along with the chicken here I have a better and carrot slaw, spicy sweet potato and butternut squash mix and a green bean tomato salad. Colour, texture, protein, fibre, slow releasing carbohydrates, healthy fats.

Are you more of an optimist or a pessimist?
Studies suggest that individuals who tend to be optimistic, or see the glass as half full, may experience a greater release of hormones like dopamine and endorphins, which contribute to positive mood and well-being. They also tend to handle stress more effectively, potentially reducing the release of stress hormones like cortisol.

Need support is seeing that glass half full? Please reach out, I’d love to discuss how coaching could help you.

Batch cooked quinoa. I made I big bowl of mixed quinoa the other day, added edamame beans and some broccoli, seasoned and drizzled with lemon juice and olive oil. Full of slow releasing carbohydrates, protein and fibre.

Added to a plate of cottage cheese, beetroot kimchi and salad leaves, I had a balanced lunch in no time.
