If you're thinking about pursuing IVF treatment, you may be wondering what to expect.

IVF is often oversimplified in mainstream media, with many people aware of only the fertilisation and transplant elements of the process. However, there is much more to IVF, including testing, scanning and monitoring progress - and those are just the parts of the process that take place in-clinic. There are also daily responsibilities that you must undertake at home, such as administering hormones.

Watch our video to see a typical IVF timeline, and read our step-by-step guide to find out more: https://www.fertility-academy.co.uk/blog/the-ivf-process-a-step-by-step-guide/

Remember, everybody's fertility is different, and your IVF journey may differ from that of another individual.

A clinical trial has found that genetic testing of IVF-created embryos could help more women over 35 have a baby in less time. Published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, it is the first randomised controlled trial worldwide to focus exclusively on women aged 35–42, a group at higher risk of producing embryos with chromosomal abnormalities.

The trial, which was carried out by researchers from King’s, King’s College Hospital, and King’s Fertility, looked at the use of Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) to check embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before transfer.

What does immune testing have to do with fertility?

The purpose of immune testing is to identify immune-related issues that might be interfering with conception or the ability to carry a pregnancy to term.

These issues can include abnormal immune responses, autoimmune disorders and the presence of specific antibodies that can affect fertility.

For those that struggle with recurrent miscarriage, IVF failure or unexplained infertility, immune testing could be the key to finding the cause of infertility, and help you take steps towards a successful pregnancy.

Discover immune testing at the Fertility & Gynaecology Academy: https://www.fertility-academy.co.uk/fertility-testing/immune-testing/

Your IVF journey may look different to somebody else's.

This is due to a number of factors, including:
- a wide variety of infertility causes
- the options available for fertility testing
- the range of treatments offered by your chosen clinic
- the success of treatment

Ultimately, your IVF journey is mostly determined by your fertility status, as well as the direction that you decide to take in terms of testing and treatment. These factors also affect the cost of IVF.

The best way to understand what your IVF journey might look like, including the likely cost, is to have a conversation with an expert. As a potential patient at the Fertility & Gynaecology Academy, you will undergo a consultation before being provided with a treatment plan with a price breakdown that will detail any recommended tests and treatments. After this, we offer a free nurse consultation to discuss any queries before proceeding with treatment.

We are always up-front in regards to your treatment plan, and there are no hidden costs.
