“When my wife Megane got pregnant, coffee stopped being a simple pleasure and became a daily calculation. How much caffeine is safe? Is decaf really decaf? Why does it taste so bad? What used to be a comforting ritual turned into another thing she had to police herself about, another small sacrifice layered on top of so many others.
I kept watching her go through that, and I kept thinking: this isn't really about coffee, it's about care.
I was a director at TikTok, well paid, stable, and about to become a father for the first time. I walked away from all of it, put my own savings into formulations and production, and started from zero, knowing the business wouldn't pay me back quickly.
My mum raised three children on her own in Colombia while trying to build a business. She understood what it meant to carry things quietly, without recognition. I think that's where this came from, the instinct to notice what women absorb without complaint.
In nine months we've sold to over 700 customers and won a silver award at the Project Baby magazine awards. But the number I think about most is simpler than that. Somewhere out there, a pregnant woman is having her morning coffee without doing the mental math. That's the whole thing, really."
