A Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner is a professional trained in using NLP techniques and psychological approach that explores the connection between thought patterns (neuro), language (linguistic), and behaviour (programming). NLP techniques help reframe negative thinking and self-talk, improve communication, and achieve lasting behavioural shift.

I am fascinated by the fact, that NLP acknowledge the root of struggle and with practical approach focuses on amplifying strengths while navigating challenges – because raising ADHD children isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong,” but nurturing what’s wonderfully unique.

Combining coaching with NLP I help parents:

1. Reduce Overwhelming Thoughts and Reframe ADHD Challenges into Strength
2. Manage Emotional Triggers and Enhance Emotional Regulation
3. Build Resilience and Self-Compassion Through Language and Reduce Burnout
4. Shift from Traditional to Conscious Parenting
5. Improve Communication and Relationship
6. Understand Mental Processes and Enhance Confidence and Motivation

By integrating NLP strategies, parents can move from daily survival to meaningful connection – where challenges become opportunities to strengthen family’s unique rhythm, to honour both the parent’s and child’s needs while building genuine connection.

Raising children with ADHD often involves unexpected challenges, frequent adjustments, and a higher level of stress. The demands can be overwhelming, and we as a parents can easily lose sight of our own needs and well-being. Often, we might feel like "lost in identity" when our time and attention are constantly consumed. When I work with parents who raising children with ADHD, the value elicitation takes an important part in our sessions. Reconnecting with core values helps them remember who they are beyond their role as a parent.
Maintaining identity and well-being is vital for preventing parental burnout, maintaining mental and emotional health. Values help us prioritize our time and energy, ensuring we focus on what truly matters. This is especially important when dealing with demands, decisions and interventions that come with ADHD. By identifying our values, we can develop a clearer sense of purpose and direction. It can also help develop more effective coping strategies, set realistic expectations, how to respond to challenging behaviours or how to advocate for our child's needs.
When we are clear about our values, we can communicate more effectively with family and friends. This promotes understanding, empathy, and stronger family bonds, even during challenging times. The better we understand our own values, the more we can foster our children’s understanding of their values and helping them develop their own sense of identity and purpose.

When I chose my coaching niche to support and help parents of ADHD children to build resilience and self-compassion when experiencing signs of parental burnout, I truly believe by restoring emotional balance within ourselves we can response and bounce back from adversity and setbacks in a healthier way and more adaptive manners.

Resilience is a unique, lifelong skill that needs to be continually nurtured and strengthened throughout life.

The unique challenges of ADHD parenting, when dealing with your children hyperactivity, impulsivity, attention difficulties, and emotional dysregulation can be incredibly challenging and emotionally draining.

Resilience isn't about denying or suppressing your vulnerabilities and exhaustion, but rather about embracing them with positive attitude, ability to regulate our own emotions and feel grounded; calm and firmly connected to your values and beliefs. Connecting with others who understand and empathize with your challenges can provide a sense of validation and belonging.

Resilient parents create a more secure and supportive environment for their children's development of resilience.

When we look at the core meaning of “flourishing” we can find things related to thriving, growing luxuriantly, growing, and developing in a healthy way.
For me flourishing often involves a sense of purpose, which aligns with my core values and beliefs. When life feels meaningful and significant for both myself and the people around me.

Flourishing involves intentional change – altering how you feel, who you want to be, and how you live. This highlights the active role we play in shaping our own well-being. This can involve a connection to nature, a sense of awe and wonder, or a commitment to your own values. The freedom to make choices and being in control of your own life.

As parents we are prioritising our children’s needs first above ours, often to the point of neglecting our own well-being. This can lead to parental burnout and resentment. Making time for your own personal and professional goals, pursuing your passions will inspire your children to develop a growth mindset and a belief in their own potential.

The holiday season can be a particularly challenging time for children with ADHD, and for their parents as well. The changes in routine, increased stimulation, and altered sleep schedules can all contribute to heightened stress levels and potential behavioural difficulties.
To avoid getting exhausted, stressed and short-tempered around it, try to slow down, prioritise things, take a breaks and care of yourself even if it is just for few minutes a day. By integrating these little changes, the challenges will not disappear, but they will feel less tense. By prioritizing self-care as a parent, you are modelling healthy coping mechanisms for your child.

Do you feel like you lost yourself in parenting a child with ADHD?

Parenting is demanding, and when you add the complexities of ADHD, it can feel overwhelming. The constant challenges, the spectrum of emotions you experience – self-doubt, blame, frustration, helplessness – it can all take a toll.

You're not alone. Being mindful about your own feelings and taking care of yourself is not selfish. Just like you strive to understand and support your child, extend that same kindness and compassion to yourself. Instead of focusing on what you're doing wrong, acknowledge that you're doing your best in a challenging situation. This shift in perspective can make a significant difference.
