“It’s probably nothing.”

In clinic, we often see patients who waited longer than they should have. That’s why if something feels off, we encourage you to get checked out.

Most of the time, it’s nothing serious - but when it is, catching things early can change everything.

Gleason score is a grading system used to estimate the aggressiveness of prostate cancer, and the grade determines the risk of spread and response to treatment

💥 Score ranges from 6 to 10:
▪️ 6 – slow-growing cancer
▪️ 7 – intermediate
▪️ 8-10 – aggressive and more likely to spread
The higher the score, the more urgent the need for expert care.

Immunotherapy has revolutionised cancer care by harnessing the immune system to kill cancer cells, but results in prostate cancer have been disappointing - until now.

The NEPTUNES study tested two types of immunotherapy in patients whose tumours had specific genetic changes, making them more visible to the immune system.

Results:
✅ 40% of patients responded — a major step forward.
This suggests that personalised immunotherapy could benefit selected patients with advanced prostate cancer.

More breakthroughs to come—stay tuned.

Q & A with Dr Ben and Prof Prabs

What are the side effects of hormone therapy in advanced prostate cancer?

“We need normal testosterone levels for a healthy life. It helps with your energy, your mood, and your ability to focus. It’s good for your heart, blood vessels, muscle mass and bone strength. It’s also important for sexual function.
Drugs that lower testosterone levels or block function will cause side effects in these areas.”

If you’re on hormone treatment, don’t hesitate to talk to our experts about any changes you notice.
