5 Facts About Resistance Training for Men’s Health:

1️⃣ Boosts Testosterone Naturally – Lifting weights stimulates testosterone, the key male hormone. Higher testosterone levels support muscle growth, fat loss, energy, motivation, and sexual health.
2️⃣ Builds Lean Muscle – Essential for strength, metabolism, and preventing age-related muscle loss.
3️⃣ Strengthens Bones – Protects against osteoporosis and reduces injury risk as men get older.
4️⃣ Supports Heart Health – Improves blood pressure, cholesterol, and circulation for long-term cardiovascular fitness.
5️⃣ Sharpens Mind & Mood – Training reduces stress, boosts confidence, and helps with focus and mental clarity.

Resistance training is more than just looking strong, it’s about hormonal balance, vitality, and longevity.

Prof Prabs, Men’s health expert and cancer surgeon talks about interpreting the Stockholm3 Test for prostate cancer.

The report has a score which determines your risk.

A high risk means you may need further investigations like MRI.

A low risk reassures you and you can get your annual PSA test.

The Stockholm3 (STHLM3) test is an advanced blood test used to detect the risk of prostate cancer.

It combines the assessment of spelling errors within genes with a blood test.

This together determines the overall risk of the individual having an underlying prostate cancer.

When it comes to prostate cancer, not all cancers are the same, and the ISUP Grade Group helps doctors understand how aggressive the cancer is.

Dr Ben, Men’s health expert and prostate cancer surgeon explains the ISUP Grade Group.

ISUP (International Society of Urological Pathology) Grades range from 1 to 5:

Grade 1: Least aggressive – may not need immediate treatment
Grade 2-3: Intermediate risk – may need active treatment
Grade 4-5: High risk – more likely to grow and spread

The ISUP grade helps guide treatment decisions, from active surveillance to surgery or radiotherapy.

Patients diagnosed with prostate cancer often ask what is the “Gleason Score?”

Prof Prabs explains that a Gleason score is assigned by a pathologist when looking at the prostate cancer cells with a microscope.

The pathologist will assign a score from 6 to 10, with 6 being mild and 10 being aggressive.

Gleason 6 and some 7 cancers can be monitored whilst Gleason 8, 9 and 10 cancers need immediate treatment.

Dr Ben talks about the use of tablet form of hormone therapy for metastatic prostate cancer as in the news for Former President Biden’s treatment.

“Traditionally hormone therapy for prostate cancer is given by injection either monthly, three monthly or six monthly.

Recently a new medication Orgovyx (relugolix) is available as a once daily tablet. For many patients this is a convenient form of treatment.

This treatment is likely to have a rapid and positive impact, effectively suppressing the cancer and keeping it under control.

Retesting for PSA helps us to know if the cancer is responding to therapy."
