Are you new to HBOT and feeling a little nervous about your first session?

📋 The first place to start is with a safety screening to ensure your suitability for HBOT.

🫧 Once inside the chamber, the process is remarkably straightforward. Users need simply settle back and breathe normally, as the chamber is set to the right pressure for your session.

🫧 You may feel warm at first and experience a popping in your ears as your body acclimatises to the pressure. The chamber is maintained at the optimum pressure (depth) while you breathe in the oxygen for the length of time prescribed in your programme (60-90 minutes) - as much as 120 minutes if required.

🫧 At the end of the session, the chamber is depressurised - with many users reporting feeling cool and a little tired at the end of the session.

❓ Is there such a thing as too much oxygen?

It is virtually impossible to achieve either chronic or acute pulmonary oxygen toxicity at the pressures used in our chambers.

So while excessive exposure to oxygen 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 lead to toxic levels in the body, the risk is not high when using a Henshaw chamber.

Soft-shell HBOT chambers can be set up wherever is most convenient, at home or in a clinical setting 🏡🩺

❌ However, they should not be located near solvents, chemicals, or other flammable substances including liquids, powders, gels, or creams, or in the vicinity of a furnace or boiler 🔥

Remember that the quality of the air inside the chamber is the product of the air on the outside.

Midweek throwback to this article about Hollywood's Jay Leno and his use of HBOT as part of his post-accident recovery. 📰🩺

The incident saw Leno hospitalised and needing surgery, following a gas explosion.

HBOT was used as an integral part of his recovery, "to speed the healing of wounds resistant to healing and fight off infection." Faced with serious burns, oxygen became particularly vital to speed up and optimise the healing process.
