Every day I hear about children going missing… autistic children… and every time my heart breaks into a million pieces.
As a father of an autistic son, I know how easily the world can become overwhelming for them – the noise, the crowds, the sudden changes. For them, even the smallest thing can be a challenge, and a single moment of inattention can be dangerous.
Recently, a story from Mława moved me deeply. Two men, out foraging for mushrooms, came across a boy… without clothes, with his dog, 20 km from home. The boy was autistic. I can only imagine his fear, his loneliness… and the terror his parents must have felt. It could have been my child. It could have shattered my heart.
The fear I feel every day that my son could disappear in an instant is unbearable. But I also know that our love, patience, and understanding can give him a sense of safety. Every smile, every shared moment, every kind word – these are our shields against a world that doesn’t always understand.
Please, look at these children with your heart. Don’t judge their behavior, don’t ignore their needs. Sometimes it’s the smallest gestures – a warm glance, a patient word, a helping hand – that can save a life.
I don’t want any more families to go through the nightmare that I feel every day. Let’s love our children, autistic children. Let’s protect them. Let’s listen to their world. Because for us – the parents – they are our whole world.❤️
