Let’s zoom in and look at why our fertility can be improved by working with the muscles and with the psoas muscle in particular. It is a deep hip flexor that connects our legs to the trunk and has a fascinating connection to fertility.

Here is reason number one:

The Psoas and Pelvic Blood Flow (Uterus & Ovaries)

The psoas runs alongside the reproductive organs in the pelvis, influencing blood circulation to the uterus and ovaries. If tight or restricted, the psoas can compress nearby arteries and nerves, reducing blood supply to the reproductive organs. Releasing tension in the psoas can increase circulation, bringing oxygen and nutrients to the reproductive system, supporting ovulation and implantation. Also s***m production for the men.

If you’re on a fertility journey, you know it’s not always straightforward and that hormones play a huge role.
In this blog post I am looking at how yoga can help rebalancing the endocrine system.

The proper functioning of the endocrine system is absolutely critical to fertility. How yoga can help with gland regulation.

For the first time in U.S. history, people aged 40+ are having more babies than teens. Birth rates for ages 40–44 have risen 127%, while teen births continue to drop.
Advances in fertility treatments, financial stability, and emotional readiness are all contributing factors.

As a fertility yoga teacher, I see how cultivating calm, awareness, and resilience through yoga can support this journey—at any age. Let your timing be yours.

Data from a new study indicates that people are becoming first time parents at ages 40 and over more frequently. Here's why that's a good thing.

As a fertility yoga teacher, I often emphasise the importance of listening to our bodies and trusting our unique journeys. In the realm of fertility, there's a lot of information and many tools marketed to us, and it's essential to approach them with informed awareness.

Recently, research has brought to light concerns about widely advertised hormone tests, particularly the Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) test, as a reliable predictor of natural fertility. While the AMH test can be valuable in specific contexts, such as guiding fertility treatments like IVF by indicating the approximate number of eggs for retrieval, studies show it cannot reliably predict your chances of conceiving naturally, the quality of your eggs, or precisely when menopause might occur.

This insight reinforces the message that our fertility is a complex and nuanced process, not solely defined by a single test. Relying too heavily on such tests for general fertility prediction can sometimes lead to unnecessary anxiety or, conversely, a false sense of security that might delay important family planning decisions.

In our practice, we focus on nurturing the body, mind, and spirit to support overall well-being and reproductive health. This includes cultivating a deeper connection with our bodies, managing stress, and fostering a positive mindset—elements that are often overlooked in the quest for quick answers from a blood test.

Experts warn patients are making ‘significant life changes’ based on the anti-Müllerian hormone test, which they say is not reliable for many of its advertised uses

There are many ways in which yoga is improving fertility. It can help regulate hormones, increase body awareness and make more space and flow in the body. It can connect us to our creativity, improve organ function, breathing and energy levels.

So, let’s zoom in and look how our fertility can be improved by working with the muscles and with the psoas muscle in particular.

There are many ways in which yoga is improving fertility. Let's look at how our fertility can be improved by working with the muscles.

Fertility is not only a biological function but also a psychosomatic process influenced by core stability, emotional regulation, and energetic flow. The core muscles play a crucial role in hormonal balance, pelvic circulation, and psychological readiness for conception. Tension, trauma, or lack of connection in these muscles can impact reproductive health.

This is a short video from my last fertility class in which we are working with connecting to our core muscles in a gentle way. Try it out!

Yoga, through postures, breathing, and focused attention, effectively balances the brain functions and nervous system.

If stress levels are high, yoga practice will down-regulate the parts of the brain and endocrine system that are responsible for hormonal release of adrenaline and cortisol. It restores the functions that are out of alignment toward a state of balance.

Join me on Tuesdays at 12 pm for Fertility yoga. We do a lot for stress relief and down-regulation of the nervous system.
