The trend for dried flowers is getting bigger and bigger and I'm excited to be doing an entire wedding in dried flowers later this year. πΈ
There are some very good reasons for choosing dried stems over fresh flowers starting with their sustainability: the drying process uses little if any energy and less fuel is used when transporting them because they are lighter and take up less space and packaging. This doesn't mean that large scale production doesn't impact the environment in other ways, but certainly small scale, locally-grown flowers are a win.πΈ
Dried flowers last longer than fresh flowers. You can keep them for months after your wedding, possibly longer, meaning that you can enjoy them far beyond your wedding day. πΈ
They are low-maintenance, requiring little care and attention- just keep them out of direct sunlight and definitely don't water them! πββοΈ πΈ
Their pollen is removed in the drying process making them hypo-allergenic so no fits of sneezing as you're about to say I do! πΈ
As with fresh flowers there's a vast array to choose from but your choices are less limited by seasonality.πΈ
The last dried flower wedding that I did was a couple of years ago and I absolutely loved it! Dried flowers bring their own challenges but I have found them just as rewarding and delightful to work with and the results just as beautiful and impactful as fresh flowers. πΈ
If you are considering using dried flowers for your wedding I'd be happy to talk through some options with you. Just DM me here or send me an email kay@justsofkowers.co.uk πΈ
On another note: my January dried flower workshop is sold out but I am planning another one in March so let me know if you would like to have advance warning of that or sign up to my newsletter via the website for updates.
