This is why cheat days don’t make sense…

Who are you kidding?!

If you have to cheat it’s proof something isn’t right

And what you are doing is not sustainable long term

We are grown women in out 30’s or 40’s

We need transparency

We need accountability

We need consistency

And sustainability…

Why YOU should focus on more effective, long term solutions when considering health whilst in a fat-loss phase:

Ideally a balanced approach to your nutrition will focus on moderation and not extremes.

The trouble with cheat days is they might force you to excessively restrict yourself during the week where you put yourself at risk of missing out on vital nutrients and even a more reduced protein intake.

They can create unhealthy relationships with food by associating them with either guilt or reward.

A cycle of restriction and overindulgence does no favours to your mental well-being and may lead to disordered eating patterns.

When we think about one of the most important things that form part of creating progress CONSISTENCY is key!

If you are 100% certain that you are eating within a calorie deficit over the week and then having a cheat day at the weekends (because let’s be honest is it really one day?),

how do you know that your total calories for the week are still putting you into that deficit,

ESPECIALLY if you are not seeing a shift on the scales!

Adopting a lifestyle that is balanced, varied and enjoyable that you can maintain long term is going to be the route to achieving your goals and actually keeping them once you get there.

Ask yourself this… Do you want to spend your life having to cheat?!

If you’re a woman in your 30’s or 40’s…

🚫 Think 1,000 calories or less is the only way to lose fat?

Think again!

It might seem like cutting calories drastically will speed up your progress, but here’s the reality:

Going too low can do more harm than good.

🙅‍♀️ Eating under 1,000 calories a day can lead to:

• Muscle loss (which is ultimately what helps you look toned)
• Hormonal imbalances (leaving you tired, irritable, and stressed)
• And even overeating later on. Those ‘cheat days’? They often lead to overindulgence, with meals high in saturated and trans fats but low in fiber and essential nutrients.

Not to mention, relying on cheat days sets up poor long-term habits—making it harder to create sustainable, healthy routines.

You end up stuck in a cycle of restriction, followed by bingeing, which only leads to frustration.

💡 The truth?

A balanced, sustainable approach with enough calories to fuel your workouts and nourish your body is the key to real, long-term fat loss success.

I have been thinking about this…

How important it is to make time to:

“Reflect, Reset, Review, Recharge, Relax”

Despite how busy it’s been this time of year already!

Have been spending a lot of my free time taking care of 50+ women the last two weeks

Creating connection with calls and conversations

Coaching them in habits, training and nutrition

As well as looking after my own clients

And it got me thinking…

One of the things I have been working on this year is

Taking more time back to look after myself 🫶🏽

In a world where days off are a myth

And although that’s been tough

I wanted to run home and share that…

Sundays are for slowing down and focusing on what matters most.

I do this as much as I can and I remind you

It’s the perfect day to:

✨ Reflect on the wins and lessons from the past week.

What did you learn about yourself?

✨ Reset your mindset—because every new week is a chance to grow and improve.

✨ Review your goals and priorities.

What do you want to focus on in the coming week?

✨ Recharge your body and mind.

Take time for rest, movement, and nourishment.

✨ Relax and breathe.

You’ve done enough, and now it’s time to simply be.

Take today to lean into these five R’s so you can step into Monday ready to crush it all over again.

I want to share a little story…

I think could resonate with you.

Will and I had planned to go for our usual walk,

but as soon as we stepped outside,

the skies opened up,

and we were drenched in seconds.

I could feel that part of me screaming to turn back,

get dry,

and call it a day.

The easy option, right?

But something inside me said,

“Keep going.”

Now, I hate the rain… 😫

Like, really hate it… 😣

I hate that COLD, soaked feeling when you’re caught in a downpour unexpectedly.

But here’s the thing…

I knew that turning back would be the easier choice,

and easy never brings progress.

Especially here in England,

where rain is as common as tea and biscuits,

if I let a little water stop me,

I’d lose MOMENTUM in my routine.

This made me think about how we as humans are wired to pick the path of least resistance.

It’s our instinct.

But life doesn’t exactly let us off easy, does it?

Challenges, discomfort, struggles…

those are all part of the package.

The key is choosing which “HARD” you’re willing to endure.

For me, it was pushing through that discomfort to keep my steps up and stay committed to my goals.

For you, it might be

✔️sticking to your nutrition plan

✔️making time for your workouts

✔️taking the harder route when you’re faced with a choice.

At the end of the day, we all have our own “RAINSTORMS” to push through.

What matters is whether you’re willing to get a little uncomfortable and keep moving forward.

Amrit finally got to start working on losing weight, building her glutes and building unstoppable confidence.

So proud of what Amrit achieved working with me on her strength training programming. She worked hard to achieve her goals whilst studying for her undergraduate degree in Law. I’m proud to say that she has recently achieved her masters in Law and social justice. Speaking with her more recently its great to hear how fitness has really helped to shape the amazing woman she is today. I’m excited for her future!

How we got there during her time on the programme:

✔️ Got her training with intention and with solid programming

✔️ Finally sorted her squat and hip thrust technique

✔️ Created a daily program to help her focus on movement preparation and development

But in reality, this is where your transformation begins…

As we move into the Autumn/Winter Reset, this can be the most powerful time to focus on yourself.

The days are getting shorter, the air colder, and for many, this is the hardest time of year to stay committed to their goals.

But that’s exactly why this is the perfect time to start!

It’s during these months that true change happens.

The man and woman responsible for helping me become a better coach

It might seem flashy

And some people think investing in yourself is a waste of money

But find no issue blowing the same money on “things” or “stuff”

I spent years blowing money on degrees, education and courses…

Some which lead me to jobs where I felt unsatisfied, unconnected and underpaid

I always felt the need to do and be more for the clients, athletes and people under my care

But something was always missing

Companies gave you specific roles and clients often had to see another coach or department

I wasn’t able to help women with nutrition for example as it was not within my job title

They were paying for “sessions” or “training”

Not interventions that helped them achieve changes daily, weekly or monthly

How the hell do I manage to get out of my own head…

How do I ditch imposter syndrome so many of us suffer from…

How do I stop giving a f*ck about what people think of me…

I find a support system, community and mentor that give more care about my life and me as a person than just providing me with “things”

3. Only take advice from those who have reached the heights you aspire to. Choose your mentors wisely.

4. No one is coming to solve your problems. Your life and success are 100% your responsibility.

5. You don’t need 100 self-help books; you need action and self-discipline. Consistency in fitness and nutrition trumps endless theory.

Last week I was in GERMANY for the EUROS ⚽️

Germany is great for vegan food!!

So good 😋😍

That even the Scotland vs Switzerland match I watched

The stadium had a SEPARATE

Vegan Grill for Vegan Bratwursts 🌭

And I didn’t have one

I had twice they were that good

When travelling I ALWAYS have to consider options

This is great for not seeing backwards health and fitness progress

Here’s what I do when travelling 👇🏽

- Research using a combination of happcow and google for restaurants and local stores

(This was great because we had a local lidl that did protein bars, powder and yogurts!)

- Pack a protein shaker bottle with me and take either small sachets of protein powder or snacks as some countries are so terrible with vegan offeringsI have had to have a pizza base without toppings and a side of a protein shake

(I didn’t need to do this for Germany as VEGAN food is everywhere!!!)

- Find a local gym, liaise on a gym pass and commit to going each morning

(This massively helps with routine for when you get back)

- Mindfully enjoy alcohol and commit to a glass of water between drinks!

(This will help the hangover and you’ll enjoy your holiday more for it!!)

- Use google maps and workout if spending the extra cash on an uber or taking public transport is really worth it and get out and get those STEPS in!!!

(We averaged about 20-30k steps a day doing this)

- Don’t sweat the macros or calories because habits and hunger will pull me through a maintenance and putting on weight is no stress as often its water retention!!

If your coach is not allowing you to eat certain things when going out for birthdays, bbq’s or brunches…

…they are preaching food exclusion and not giving you the tools to make empowered decisions...

…then yes, you need to sack them.

Diet fads and imposing restrictions that only allow you to have meals that consist of magic shakes, juices, detoxing or sachets.

Fact is…

None of these are evidence based

they might produce temporary or quick results

but I am afraid that’s it.

what happens after you finish your so called diet plan with them?

are there any life skills, education or long term investments or habits built for your future self?

If the answer is no

Then you need to sack them
