Healing isn’t always found in hospital rooms or therapy sessions.

Sometimes, healing begins in the quiet moment when another woman with says:

“I’ve been there too.”

For many women with spinal cord injuries, peer support is more than community:

it's a lifeline, confidence, courage and breath.

It’s the shift from “I’m the only one” to “I’m understood.”

Research continues to show what our hearts already know:

📌Women with SCI who engage in meaningful peer support often experience:

- lower levels of depression
- reduced feelings of isolation
- increased confidence in navigating daily life
- improved emotional wellbeing
- stronger sense of identity and purpose

Because something powerful happens when women share stories, exchange tips, laugh together, cry together and remind each other that life after SCI is still layered, beautiful and full of possibility.

Thriving becomes easier when you don’t have to do it alone.

This is why community isn’t optional.

It’s healing.
It's strength.
It’s sisterhood.

❤ ️At HerSpine Solutions, we believe in the power of women rising together.

And every woman deserves a circle where she feels seen, safe and supported.

❤️Join the HerSpine Virtual Ladies Lounge, a safe, joyful, unfiltered space for women with spinal cord injuries to connect, breathe, share and rise together.

12/11/2025

Rebuilding life after a is not just about medical care or physical recovery.

It is about community, connection and support, the kind that holds you up on hard days and cheers loudly on the good ones.

Support is not weakness.
Support is strategy.

And every woman with SCI deserves a circle that lifts, understands and walks beside her.

Here is how to start building yours, one intentional step at a time:

1. Join SCI Support Groups

Look for in-person or virtual groups where women share experiences, challenges and wins. Community breeds strength, especially when it reflects your journey.

2. Explore Online Forums and Communities

Digital spaces can offer daily encouragement, practical tips and the comfort of knowing you are not alone, even on quiet nights.

3. Find a Mentor (or Become One)

There is power in learning from women who have walked the path before you. And later, your story will light the way for someone else.

4. Build Safe Friendships

Choose people who listen, respect your journey, and see you beyond your condition. Protect your peace. Nurture relationships that feel like oxygen, not obligation.

5. Lean Into Family and Trusted Allies

Educate loved ones when you can. Let them support you where it matters. Advocacy begins at home, and your voice deserves to be heard there too.

6. Stay Connected to Faith or Purpose Communities

Spiritual grounding or shared-interest groups can provide emotional strength, belonging, and meaning as you rebuild life after injury.

Remember:
You do not need a thousand people.
You just need the right ones.

Your support network is not built overnight, it grows gently, intentionally, and powerfully.

And every connection you make is a seed of resilience.

➡️If you're looking for a sisterhood that gets it, where wheelchair talk is normal, vulnerability is welcome and laughter is healing, join us in the HerSpine Virtual Ladies Lounge❤️.

Healing is not just physical. Growth is not just individual.

And strength is rarely built alone.

For so many women with , the world can feel loud, overwhelming, and isolating, especially when your lived experience is misunderstood or overlooked.

That is why sisterhood matters.

There is a special kind of power in being surrounded by women who understand the quiet battles:

managing body changes, navigating healthcare, rebuilding identity, relearning confidence, and daring to dream again in a world that underestimates you.

In sisterhood, you do not have to explain yourself.

You do not have to shrink.
You do not have to pretend you are fine when you are not.

You get to be seen.
You get to breathe.
You get to belong.

Community reminds us that we are not defined by what happened to our bodies, but by what still lives in our spirits.

And when women rise together, hope spreads, courage multiplies, and possibilities open.

This is why spaces like the 💓HerSpine Virtual Ladies Lounge exist, a circle of strength, laughter, learning, healing and shared experience.

A space where women with SCI gather to grow, connect and remember: you were never meant to do life alone.

You deserve a community that gets it.

Rebuilding body confidence after a is deeply personal, but it’s also possible.

Your body tells a story of strength, survival, and resilience.

It’s time to celebrate that.

Today, we’re talking about body image, confidence, and the small ways you can reconnect with yourself again.

Because you are more than your reflection, you are a woman rediscovering her power.

Here are 4 Ways to Build Confidence in Your Body After Spinal Cord Injury:

➡️Tip 1: Mirror Affirmations

Stay in front of the mirror and speak kind words over your body.
Start small: “I’m learning to love this version of me.”

Confidence starts with how you speak to yourself, before anyone else does.

➡️Tip 2: Wear What Makes You Feel Good

Lingerie, soft robes, comfy pyjamas, whatever makes you feel confident.

You don’t have to wait for an occasion or a partner to feel beautiful. Dress for you.

➡️Tip 3: Communicate About Intimacy With Your Partner

Confidence grows in safe spaces.

Talk openly about what feels good, what doesn’t, and what you’re exploring.

Honest conversations turn vulnerability into deeper connection.

➡️Tip 4: Celebrate What Your Body Can Do

Focus on sensation, pleasure, and the ways your body supports you every day.

Celebrate progress, not perfection.

You are whole, not in spite of your injury, but in every way you show up.

Your confidence doesn’t come from how your body used to be, it comes from embracing who you are now.

💬 Which of these tips resonates most with you today?

Let’s talk in the comments.

“Can I really do this?”

That’s the question that echoes in your mind as you think about going back to school after a spinal cord injury.

The wheelchair. The medical appointments. The catheter supplies tucked beside your textbooks.

The quiet fear that you’ll be the only one who “needs support” on campus.

Here’s what we want you to know: Yes, you can go back to school with SCI.

But it helps to be prepared to navigate systems that may not fully understand your needs, to secure accommodations that truly support your learning,...

And to manage your health while keeping up with academic demands.

This week’s offers a real roadmap: from understanding your rights and requesting adjustments, to finding funding and managing your health while chasing deadlines.

Because education isn’t a privilege reserved for the able-bodied. It’s your right. And you deserve to pursue it fully.

Motherhood after a is motherhood reimagined.

It’s the late nights, the laughter, the lullabies, and yes, the logistics.

It’s learning new ways to hold your baby safely from your wheelchair.

It’s figuring out diaper changes with adaptive tools.

It’s mastering transfers while whispering prayers under your breath.

But most of all, it’s the fierce love that refuses to be defined by what others think your body can or cannot do.

Many women with SCI are told, “You can’t be a mum,” or “It’ll be too hard.”

But the truth?

Motherhood is hard for everyone. SCI just adds a different rhythm; one built on creativity, community, and courage.

There are moments of doubt, yes.

Times when fatigue meets frustration.

But there are also victories, small and sacred, like when your baby grabs your finger for the first time, or when your child grows up seeing that strength doesn’t always walk, sometimes it rolls.

Motherhood with SCI isn’t about limitation.

It’s about innovation.

It’s about redefining what it means to nurture, lead, and love your way.

To every mum with a spinal cord injury: your story matters.

Your love is enough. And your journey is a powerful testimony of resilience.❤️

18/10/2025

When I first got injured, I thought intimacy was over for me.

Not because my body couldn’t feel, but because I didn’t feel like me anymore.

My confidence disappeared, and I didn’t know how to connect with my body, let alone another person.

But here’s what I’ve learned (and what I wish more people understood):

Intimacy after is not gone. It’s just different.

It’s learning to communicate what feels good.

It’s finding new ways to give and receive pleasure.

It’s allowing emotional connection to lead the way, instead of pressure or performance.

And sometimes, it’s rediscovering touch, trust, and vulnerability in brand new ways.

For many women, this journey starts with self-acceptance, seeing your body as worthy of love, beauty, and desire exactly as it is.

So, when we talk about intimacy, let’s move away from pity or awkward silence.

Let’s talk about possibilities.

Because women with SCI can and do have fulfilling, joyful, and deeply meaningful intimate lives.
