The Quiet Truth
Somewhere, right now, a woman is skipping meals so her kids can eat — while running a small business from her kitchen table.
She’s clever, resourceful, and driven. But she’s invisible to the system.
No credit score. No formal income.
No access to funding.
No cushty trust fund from mum & dad.
Not because she’s not worthy — but because she was never included to begin with and this is her reality.
This is what financial exclusion looks like.
When we talk about women’s empowerment, we can’t skip this part.
Before we celebrate the breakthroughs, we have to name the barriers. Loudly.
Some facts we can’t ignore:
•Globally, over 740 million women do not have access to a bank account.
•In many communities, women are 3x more likely to be financially excluded than men.
•Even in developed countries, women are more likely to:
• Be denied credit
• Carry more debt
• Earn less but pay more in fees and interest
• Informal income (like selling food, crafts, childcare, or doing hair at home) is rarely counted — even when it’s consistent.
•And without access to funding, or opportunities, many women are forced to find other ways to survive.
This isn’t about money. It’s about power.
And when women are excluded financially, they are excluded socially, politically, generationally
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be peeling back the layers — sharing stories, hard truths, and what it really takes to help women move from survival to self-sufficiency.
This isn’t a campaign.
It’s a calling.
And it’s time.
