We lost two wonderful women last week, that were a part of the Camp Lejeune Toxic Water family. One was a widow who was in my group and had been with me from the start of the group and the other lady was a very courageous Marine.

When my husband was in hospice care the nurse told me that they tend to have the most horrible deaths. She explained that they do not give up easily and fight to the bitter end. You see it's a part of their training. They have to be tough and strong, leave no man behind.

I say that, to say this. I did not personally know Crystal Jackson Dickens but from what I saw from being in several Facebook groups, she was one tough cookie, who never gave up. She showed sheer determination and advocated on behalf of the community to seek justice even when she was not fighting fit herself, that in itself to me gives Crystal her flowers.

Betty's funeral is being held in NC and it saddens me that I will not be able to attend. As a community and a testament to The Camp Lejeune Toxic Water Widows Group we have clubbed together to send a floral tribute to Betty's family.

If any of you would like to donate even if it's just $5 your donation would be greatly received and I'll will be ordering the floral arrangement today to express how deeply missed Betty will be.

🌸Help Us Stand Strong for Camp Lejeune Widows🌸– Your Support Matters💙❤️

As we reach out to you today, we’re not just asking for help; we’re inviting you to become a part of something profoundly meaningful. LEAWS (Lejeune Empowered Advocacy for Widows) was born out of love, pain, and the unwavering commitment to support the widows of Camp Lejeune—the women whose lives have been forever altered by the toxic water exposure that claimed their husbands. 🌈

Why We Need You Now More Than Ever

We’re a small, grassroots nonprofit just a year into this journey. In a world where widows often find themselves overlooked and support for smaller nonprofits is hard to come by, LEAWS strives to make a difference—one widow, one story, and one act of kindness at a time. Yet, we can't do it alone. We need the compassion and generosity of people like you to keep the mission alive.

Our work may be modest, but the impact is significant. We’ve organized healing retreats, provided a sisterhood of support, and helped these resilient women navigate the bureaucratic maze of VA benefits and legal claims. Beyond the big programs, we’re also here for the small but vital things—supporting one another through surgeries, losses, and daily struggles.

Over the past months, we've comforted a widow who tragically lost her son, and we were able to send a small but heartfelt donation 💵. Just last week, the community lost one of its dearest member; through our supporters’ contributions, we’re able to honor her memory with a beautiful wreath. These are the moments that truly matter.

Where Your Gift Goes

Every contribution goes directly toward sustaining our outreach and advocacy efforts 🛡️. With your help, we can cover essential operating expenses, like our website, internet, software, and filing fees—all the tools we need to keep supporting these brave women.

Imagine your support helping us send care packages 🎁to a widow recovering from surgery, or covering costs for the legal and emotional support services that make such a difference in their lives.

Every Dollar Counts, No Matter How Small

Our goal is simple but critical: to create a world where no Camp Lejeune widow stands alone. Whether it’s $5, $50, or $500, every dollar is a step toward making this vision a reality 🌱.

✨ Please consider joining us in this cause✨ . Together, we can ensure these widows are heard, supported, and empowered, honoring their courage and resilience in the face of unspeakable loss. 🤝💕

🌟 Support Our Mission: Empowering Widows in Need 🌟

The widow community often gets overlooked when it comes to raising funds because they aren’t typically considered as vulnerable as groups like the homeless, veterans, or those facing hunger. However, the widows I serve are the spouses of veterans who may not be eligible for veterans' benefits or are struggling to obtain them from the Veterans Administration. It’s crucial that they receive the support they need during these challenging times.

When their loved ones pass away, it often feels as if these wives are forgotten. Many have even lost their homes due to their husbands' benefits being cut off. My passion for the Camp Lejeune widows stems from the fact that, while all widows face similar struggles, these women lost their husbands due to the government’s negligence. They continue to fight for the benefits their husbands rightly earned, and they deserve our support just as much as anyone else.

This year, Lejeune Empowered Advocacy for Widows has made a significant impact thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and donors. We've organised our annual retreat, provided essential emotional support, and sent thoughtful pamper packages—including flowers and other gifts—to widows who are facing illness or navigating bereavement. 💜

Our services have included:

Hosting our retreat to support widows emotionally and physically.

Sending personalized pamper packages to brighten the day of widows who need some extra care.

Offering community meetings via Zoom and in person designed to empower and uplift widows during challenging times.

We are deeply grateful to our sponsors—Pepsi, Walmart, Winn Dixie, and Target—for their generous donations, and to Office Depot for helping us create impactful flyers. To the amazing individuals who continue to donate, thank you for enabling us to reach out and make a difference. Your support allows us to offer these heartfelt gestures and programs to fellow widows. 💕

We need your support now more than ever! As we plan for the upcoming year, we are raising funds for operating expenses to keep our services running smoothly. Any amount you can give will go directly towards empowering widows and ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve.

🙏 Donate today and help us continue this essential work. Together, we can make a difference! 💫

📖 Benefits of Grief Journaling:

Emotional Release: Writing allows you to express feelings that might be too painful to say out loud. It’s a safe place to confront and process your emotions.

Clarity and Understanding: Journaling helps you make sense of your grief. By putting your thoughts into words, you can explore your emotions and begin to understand them better.

A Record of Growth: Over time, your journal becomes a testament to your healing journey. It captures not just the pain, but also the moments of resilience and strength that carry you forward.

Personal Connection: Through your journal, you can maintain a connection with your lost loved one, keeping their memory alive in a deeply personal way.

Let your grief journal be a gentle companion on your path to healing. It’s not just about the words you write; it’s about the space you create for yourself to heal.
