LIFT Music is playing a key role in supporting creativity, connection, and confidence in a new group organised by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

From week one, the impact has been clear: encouraging movement, peer support, laughter, and meaningful engagement, with participants already building confidence and showing just how powerful creative expression can be. Huge thanks to Kelly Mills for organising and for inviting LIFT Music to be part of the Young Onset Dementia Project Steering Group.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month đź“…

This video captures a moment of music improvisation with Dr Anthony Scarfe who is living with a brain injury—exploring sound, movement, and expression in his own way.

Music can play a powerful role in supporting confidence, identity, and connection after brain injury. Inclusive technology is key in making these experiences accessible by removing barriers so more people can create, engage, and be heard.

A reminder this month of the importance of empowerment, creativity, and recognising potential beyond diagnosis.

LIFT Music was thrilled to attend the Cambridge Health Futures Conference at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge this week, an inspiring event exploring innovation in healthcare through digital health and AI. Bringing together students, clinicians, researchers, and industry leaders from across Cambridge, Oxford, and London, it was a brilliant opportunity to be part of forward-thinking conversations.

At the event, we had the chance to demo LIFT Music, our gesture-based music therapy designed for cognitive differences, and share ongoing university research exploring LIFT as a non-clinical intervention for depression, as well as our work with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust into LIFT's use in early-onset dementia.

“LIFT Music gives our students confidence… it’s about creativity, self-expression, and having fun.”

Hearing this from Nuno Reis, Creative Arts Lead at TCES, sums up exactly why inclusive tools matter. Creating space for students to express themselves, especially in SEND settings, can make a real difference to confidence, engagement, and enjoyment in learning. 🎵

LIFT Music is now available to purchase through the Normans website, with the option to use capital grant funding. 🎶

We had the opportunity to see LIFT Music in action at the Music and Drama Education Expo earlier this year, and came away genuinely impressed. Watching pupils engage with music through gesture-based interaction, particularly those who face barriers with traditional instruments, was a strong reminder of what accessible music technology can achieve in the right hands. 👏

LIFT Music is a gesture-based music app designed specifically for use in schools and specialist settings. Created to support learners with SEND, LIFT Music transforms simple arm movements into expressive musical experiences.

We're glad to be able to offer LIFT Music through the Normans website, and hope it opens up new possibilities for the settings and practitioners working hard to make music accessible to every learner.

We love hearing how LIFT Music is making a difference in classrooms. Feedback from schools is incredibly important to us and it’s fantastic to see how the app is supporting engaging, inclusive music experiences.

We’re proud to receive reviews like this one from Woodside Academy, and to see students exploring music in new and creative ways. 🎵

Great day in Newcastle earlier this month with North East Music Hub! Stuart demoed LIFT Music at Thomas Bewick School and Sir Charles Parsons School, then presented at a SEND meeting organised by Fran Harris and Georgina Biddle, sharing how accessible music technology can support inclusive learning.

One highlight was a student taking the lead and showing Stuart how to use LIFT Music, a great example of how accessible creative tools can empower young people.

If you’d like to learn more or arrange a free demo at your school, please get in touch.
