I have been trained to offer Reproflexology/Fertility Reflexology since 2013, when I trained with Barbara Scott in this wonderful treatment. It was exactly the sort of course I had been looking for, one that offered detailed reproductive health anatomy/physiology, processes and reflexology protocols to support for all of this and then the same for those trying to get pregnant.

At that time I was teaching my own courses and diplomas in pregnancy reflexology and other courses that I had developed. I had to stop teaching in 2017 as I was caring for my father through his cancer treatment.

Last year I decided I would start to run courses again and was just thinking about which ones when Barbara Scott approached me (and a few others) to ask if we would be interested in doing some more advanced training with her with the idea we would then be Seren Licensed Trainers offering face to face courses in our own respective geographical areas as Barbara was doing online courses only. So I spent a year doing this excellent advanced training with Barbara and 2 other Seren practitioners and all 3 of us are now the only Seren Licensed practitioners in the UK.

My face to face courses run in London, and if you are looking to develop your understanding about reflexology to support reproductive health and fertility then this course may be exactly what you need. As well as doing the course you will also then have the support of the closed Facebook group and the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists. Upon qualifying you will also be added to the directory. There is a lot of theory but also a lot of practical work, and in person training means you get to experience the practical work and learn what exactly you are feeling for on the feet and how that relates to the individual in front of you and feel what the protocols are exactly like. All the training is approved by the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) and the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).
The next course (Part 1) is in London in September and there are a few spaces left. Link is in profile for booking.

This is a bit of a long one.....

I've been a practitioner for around 25 years, thus it all mostly started in the pre digital era. I had a website but there was no socials, no real smart devices and limited digital help with things. So the time I was doing courses, CPDs, professional association meetings, teaching therapy courses etc were always all in person.

And even as the digital world developed these things remained mainly in person with the assistance of online/digital.

And I loved it, especially the networking side. I got to meet lots of other practitioners from all over the world and it's the chats and discussions during the breaks (the water cooler moments as such) which were the most important or significant.

Then the pandemic hit and everything went fully digital overnight.

And since then almost all courses, professional meetings etc are on Zoom or Meetings only. And I'm now feeling a real disconnect from the one to one connection with people and colleagues. All the networking and friendships forged are reduced as during breaks on Zoom everyone turns off their cameras and goes off to eat in their own kitchen.

Yes, digital offers convenience and saves people travelling, especially if they have other responsibilities or it's more difficult to organise travel. But staring at the screen and at a sea of faces every single time without the social side is hitting me now. I'm searching out in-person training and events and turning away the events that are Zoom only.
We are social beings and being in the industry we're in it's about direct contact with other people and touch therapy. We understand the importance of what that is and means.
Add to that, most of us are sole traders so we don't have a team of work colleagues every day - and that's especially true for the Therapists who work solely from their homes. It can become a bit lonely or feel like you're alone.

I know some practitioners only trained from 2019 onwards so they may not have experienced any differently other than digital learning or meetings. But for those of us who trained before this, I am genuinely interested to know how you feel about this.

What do you all feel?

Would you like more in person training, professional association meetings and similar to network, connect, build friendships and relationships with other practitioners?

Or do you prefer Zoom only?

I'm really interested in how people feel about this now we're 5 years along from the pandemic starting.

Thank you.

I'm featured in the centre double spread of both The Express and the Daily Mirror newspapers today. The article is about my intraoral massage (also called ). Treatment done at my Moorgate clinic in City and Soul. This is something I've been offering for 15+ years for tight jaws (TMJ issues), intraoral decongestive lymph therapy too. You can have this as part of these treatments, or a part of my Signature Facial treatment.

"Oh, I don't know how you work in City of London, it's so manic." That's what I hear all the time. My response is, have a walk, pause and look up. London is full of amazing history and architecture. And in the sunshine it's that much better. During my break I wandered to the Royal Exchange, grabbed a Grind and sat in the sunshine people watching. Then back to clinic with a spring in my step. ☀️ ☕

Cancer turned my world upside down......

Since I was the age of 3 my life has been affected by cancer. Firstly my older sister, aged 4, had leukaemia, then when I was 7 my grandmother died from breast cancer (she helped raised me while my mother was in hospital with my sister). My mum in 2012, recovered. My dad died in 2017 from a brain tumour. One year later my younger sister had breast cancer surgery and treatment, still living with the effects.

And so many more friends and family.

Take your NHS screenings, go to the GP when you have any symptoms. Early detection means early treatment and gives you a better chance of recovery.

To all and any currently living with cancer and cancer treatment, I send you my love.
To any who are past treatment, but live with the ongoing effects, I send you my love.
To all the carers, family and friends I also send my love.

I’m a self-employed sole trader – and as anyone who is in that boat knows, it can be a lonely place on occasion. Especially if you have worked in teams before.

However, in the past 23 years I’ve rented treatment rooms in established therapy centres where we have a multi-disciplinary team who are each sole traders also. But we’ve worked as a team and it’s great to have like-minded people to bounce ideas off and just have connection with our community. And we respect each other’s work and individual experience where we can refer clients to each other with confidence. And with many, they’ve also become great friends who I see socially.

Since the pandemic years, I’ve noticed that this feeling of community and teams had declined in some spaces, and I know that others have noticed it also. Many experienced long term practitioners either moved on to other places/locations, or changed their way of working – some clinics closed too. I began to miss this feeling of team work and unity, but then I had a message from 2 fellow therapist friends – an acupuncturist and an osteopath, they too missed this security and being in a team since the pandemic so they opened their own clinic and invited me to join them there. So I am now 6 months in at the lovely City and Soul clinic in Moorgate/Bank where they have developed (and are continuing to develop) a great team of practitioners.

And they are organising regular team get togethers and CPD sessions.
One of these we had this week linked to ‘fertility’ as so many of us work in that area (me in reflexology/massage, 2 acupuncturists, a female pelvic health osteopath). We got to meet and chat all things fertility with Dr Lisa Stradiotto, fertility nutritionist Mel Brown and andrologist Rachel from Andrology Solutions (working with Sheryl Homa). We all had great discussions and so many potential thoughts about more integrative and complementary ways of working which runs for the best for the patient/client to gain the most for their treatment and health. It’s about working together rather than against each other.

Looking forward to what more this brings for us.

It's Friday, yay. I found that gorgeous sun spot in my house and trying to soak it up. These past few days have been cold, and with it getting darker earlier - I'm already missing the summer months! I REALLY needed this moment today after several quite intense weeks. The sun and warmth always makes it all better for me and a few minutes to unwind. I hope you get your time to soak up the sun, or whatever you need to reset. And my nieces and nephew will appreciate the music. Happy Friday. ☀ 💆🏾‍♀️🧘🏾‍♀️💛
