Did you know that people living with lymphoma or leukaemia have up to six times higher risk of developing skin cancer?

This increased risk is due to a weakened immune system caused by the blood cancers themselves and their treatments, which make the skin more vulnerable to damage. Skin cancers in these patients can be more aggressive, so early detection through regular skin checks is absolutely critical.

If you or a loved one is undergoing treatment for blood cancer, don’t wait—schedule regular skin screenings with a dermatologist and perform monthly self-exams to catch any changes early.

Skin changes are sometimes the first sign of an underlying medical condition. Disorders such as thyroid disease, diabetes, and allergies can present with dryness, rashes, pigmentation changes, or unusual hair and nail symptoms.

A thorough dermatological assessment doesn’t just treat the surface - it can uncover and address internal health issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.

🔍 Checking for Signs of Skin Cancer? Start with ABCDE

The ABCDE rule is a helpful guide for spotting melanoma:

A - Asymmetry
B - Border irregularity
C - Colour variation
D - Diameter over 6mm
E - Evolving shape or size

But not all skin cancers follow this pattern — some appear as sores, crusty patches, or unusual growths.

🩺 When in doubt, get it checked. Early diagnosis saves lives.
