Ever feel mentally ‘full’ — before the day even begins?

That isn’t laziness — that’s mental load and emotional fatigue.

You deserve gentleness, not pressure.

I’ve created free calming worksheets to help you unload your thoughts and find breathing room again.

On Thursday, my world shifted.
We lost our boy unexpectedly — a rapid decline that none of us saw coming.
I’m still in disbelief, still waiting to hear his paws on the floor, still listening for him at the door.

Grief is showing up in the smallest moments…
Hoovering and realising there’s no fur to replace.
Getting into bed and realising he’s not curled up at the end of it.
Reaching for routines that no longer exist.
Quiet where comfort used to be.

I knew losing a dog would hurt — but I didn’t understand how deeply they embed themselves into the rhythm of your life, your heart, your home.

Right now, it’s one breath, one memory, one hour at a time.
And even through the heartbreak, I am grateful — for every walk, every cuddle, every silly moment, every ordinary day that I never knew was extraordinary at the time.

If you’ve ever loved and lost a dog, you already understand.
They never were “just a dog.”
They are family — and their absence echoes in every corner of your life.

Holding space for anyone walking this path too 🤍🐾

Hi, I’m Jess 💛

I’m a teacher, mum, and calm-seeker — and I created Keep Smiling by Jess as a gentle space for those who sometimes feel overwhelmed by the juggle of everyday life.

For years, I lived in a constant rush — balancing work, motherhood, and everything in between — until I realised I’d forgotten to pause. Now, I’m on a journey to find what calm really means, one small step at a time 🌸

Here, I’ll be sharing reflections, wellbeing tools, and gentle reminders that you’re not alone — and that calm doesn’t have to mean perfect.

My website features a blog written by me and also free downloads to resources that will help you create a calmer life.

✨ Here’s to slowing down, taking a breath, and finding your calm — together.
