The energy of the mother lives in more places than we realise.
Mother’s Day can hold joy, grief, pride, longing and gratitude — sometimes all at once.
Today I want to honour Mother’s Day in all of its forms.
Not just the picture-perfect version we so often see, but the real, layered, complex and deeply human experience of motherhood.
Today I celebrate the new mothers learning their way through sleepless nights and overwhelming love.
The mothers raising neurodivergent children with fierce patience, advocacy and devotion.
The mothers whose children are grown and have flown the nest, who sometimes sit quietly with the space that’s been left behind.
I honour the women who foster, adopt, nurture and mother children who did not come through their bodies but absolutely through their hearts.
The mothers-to-be holding hope and dreams for the life they long to welcome.
And I hold space today for the women who never got to be mothers, whose hearts may carry a quiet ache that the world doesn’t always see.
Motherhood is not one story. It is many stories.
Today we celebrate, remember, honour and hold compassion for all of them.
And today I also acknowledge my own mother. What you went through as a young mother can never be diminished. I am grateful for you today and all days.
However this day meets you — with joy, longing, reflection, pride, exhaustion, or love — may you feel seen.
Happy Mother’s Day to every version of a mother.
The spirit of the mother lives in nurture, protection, patience and love — and today we honour that energy everywhere it exists. 🌿
