Client Testimony 💭

"I never thought I could have fun without alcohol… but here I am, five months sober and loving life!"

Today we celebrate Barnaby and his incredible five months of recovery at Harmony House. He has faced the early battles of sobriety with courage, building the emotional, mental, and life skills needed to thrive in abstinence-based recovery.

Barnaby is a true example to the younger generation: life can be joyful beyond addiction, and hope is real. During his time with us, he’s begun discovering his true self.

A huge thank you to the unwavering support and our amazing team who have journeyed with him. Some of the team can be seen pictured below: Mario (transformational life coach), Jodie (integrative counsellor & group facilitator), Tom and Kathleen (support workers). 👏

As Barnaby moves into aftercare, attending weekly groups and receiving ongoing support, we celebrate his achievements and the bright future ahead.

Congratulations, Barnaby!

🌿 A Powerful Testimony of Hope and Recovery at Harmony House 🌿

Today, we celebrate an amazing milestone — the graduation of Brooke, a courageous young woman who has overcome the devastating grip of ketamine addiction.

Ketamine addiction is a growing crisis, especially among the younger generation.

Its impact on the body — particularly on vital organs like the bladder — can be catastrophic. Yet, through perseverance, teamwork, and Brooke’s unwavering determination to recover, we’ve witnessed a remarkable transformation.

At Harmony House, we’ve walked alongside Brooke through the darkest valleys of addiction and into the light of recovery. Today, she stands stronger — body, mind, and spirit. As she begins to reintegrate into her life beyond our doors, her story reminds us all that recovery is possible — one day at a time.

To anyone struggling or watching a loved one suffer: there is hope. Ketamine addiction is no joke — it’s destroying lives and futures — but help is available.

💚 Harmony House is a cost-effective addiction recovery retreat, offering compassionate, structured support for those ready to reclaim their lives. We are advocates for change and open our doors to anyone seeking freedom from addiction.

Familiar Chaos vs. Unfamiliar Peace:

Our nervous system has an incredible memory. It’s wired to seek what feels familiar — even when that familiarity is chaos. For many of us, peace feels strange, even unsafe, because it’s unfamiliar. So we unconsciously return to what we know — the same cycles, the same pain, the same escape.

At Harmony House, we remind our clients
ADDICTION is giving up everything for one thing.
RECOVERY is giving up one thing for everything.

Recovery begins with that choice: to stop running from the pain and to face what lies beneath it.

Many of us reached for alcohol, narcotics, gambling, food, s*x, or other distractions — not because we were weak, but because we were hurting, this was the best remedy we could come up with, and their is no shame in that.

These patterns were once our survival tools, helping us numb emotions or memories we weren’t ready to face. But what once kept us safe can begin to keep us stuck and in self sabotage mode.

The truth is, lacking power — that was our dilemma. We discovered that we were powerless over the things that once promised relief. And so, we needed to find a power greater than ourselves — one that could restore our minds, hope, healing, and offer true freedom to peace.

At Harmony House, this is the heart of the work we do.
We don’t just focus on stopping the behaviour; we help you uncover why it began. Our approach combines evidence-based approaches , trauma-informed care, and holistic recovery practices to heal the deeper chaos within — not just the surface symptoms.

We guide you in integrating old beliefs and emotional responses, learning to respond differently, and cultivating peace that feels safe and sustainable. This is where transformation truly begins — not through willpower alone, but through connection, prayer, compassion, and restored identities .

When we stop and gain the awareness of why we are consuming, we begin to see that the substance or behaviour was never the real problem — it was the signal.

Beneath every addiction is a story, a wound, and a longing for peace.

At Harmony House, we walk with you through that journey — helping you find the power that can truly solve the problem and lead you into lasting freedom.

Because recovery isn’t about losing something — it’s about gaining everything.
It’s about coming home.

This September, for National Recovery Month 2025, we honour stories of courage, resilience, and transformation.
Take Ian, pictured here before and after. Once in a desperate and critical state because of alcoholism, he is among the many thousands across the UK who have reached out for help and found hope at our addiction retreat in Suffolk.

🔹 Did you know?
In England, over 600,000 adults are estimated to be alcohol-dependent — yet only about 18% receive specialist treatment.

Between 2023–2024, nearly 159,000 people began treatment for drug and alcohol problems; 63% of them for alcohol.

Alcohol-related deaths in the UK have now reached over 10,000 each year — every single one preventable.
Now, Ian is over 60 days sober. He’s reclaiming his mind, rebuilding his strength, and rediscovering life. The team at Harmony House are proud to stand with him on this journey and celebrate his comeback.

✨ There is no shame in seeking help — only courage. Recovery is possible, hope is real, and with faith, God makes all things possible.

🙏 Please join us in giving our Ian some encouragement as he continues to grow stronger each day.

This is why we recover out loud — so others don’t die in silence.

🌿 Redefining Recovery 🌿

At Harmony House, we go beyond the traditional treatment model. Instead of sitting in groups for hours each day, we focus on reintroducing clients to life—helping them rediscover joy, purpose, and connection without the aid of alcohol or substances.

Our groundbreaking approach blends:
🌱 Life Coaching & Personal Development – equipping clients with tools to build resilience and a new vision for the future.

🧠 Education on the Science of Addiction – understanding the brain, dopamine, and the reward system gives clients insight into cravings and the power to rewire habits.

🤝 12-Step Philosophy & Community – drawing strength from shared experience and proven principles of recovery.

🌄 Recreational Adventures & Social Integration – from local group activities to climbing Mam Tor in the Peak District, we reintroduce clients into sociable experiences that rebuild vital brain pathways, strengthen neural connections, and create lasting change.

This unique model bridges the gap between the life of addiction and the life of recovery—empowering our clients not just to break free, but to thrive.

✨ Recovery isn’t about what you leave behind—it’s about the life you step into. And at Harmony House, that life is waiting.
