There really is no recipe, no one size fits all, no best or magic cure all exercise.

That is why I focus on the individual, listening, finding out about the problems they are having and exploring the different things that might help and deciding a plan collaboratively with a client, monitoring and reviewing as required.

Each client will have different needs and a different journey, but the first step to making changes, is ….making changes.

Jan realised things needed to change and reached out for some help.

A big thank you to friends and colleagues but most of all clients old and new, since unofficially opening The Physio Pilates Hub earlier in the year, I seem to have had a steady stream of word of mouth referrals 😊❤️

I will be increasing my opening hours next month, so thought I’d make things more official with some flyers and cards to be distributed and spread the word.

Welcome to The Physio and Pilates Hub. A place created to help people get out of pain, move better, feel comfortable, feel safe and supported exercising, to help people understand their bodies and the importance of exercise for health.

It’s a place where Physiotherapy and Pilates overlap, integral to each other difficult to separate.

The Physio Pilates Hub offers; Physiotherapy assessments and treatment for people with musculoskeletal complaints (muscle and or joint problems - stiffness, pain, etc), Pilates classes, 1:1 Physio/Pilates programmes, home visits and studio sessions.

Kaye McGowan founder, Physio and Pilates teacher has over 20 years experience of working with people with injuries, pain, long term health conditions, and following surgery.

Physiotherapy sessions are tailored to the individual, which means if you’ve got 3 different issues that’s fine, if you just want an assessment and a plan that’s ok or if you need support and guidance which extends beyond the often prescribed by other providers “4 sessions” then Kaye can help you with that too.

52a Palmerston St, Bollington, Macclesfield, SK10 5PW is the HQ- here you will find a small but multifunctional physio and pilates studio complete with reformer, pilates chair and tower and lots of other equipment to facilitate movement and strength. Kaye also runs classes in the community, and offers local home visits, virtual/online appointments and private group classes.

Feeling a bit metamorphic at the moment, I’m moving from One Life Pilates to The Physio Pilates Hub.

I’m still in transition at the moment but for those who know and work with me already you will start seeing less ‘One Life Pilates’ and more ‘The Physio Pilates Hub’ the new name better reflects where my journey so far has taken me and the service I am creating.

A new website and booking system is on its way very soon, but right now I’m busy creating new social media pages.

Class updates!

I’ve tweaked my timetable to offer a couple more in person classes to the schedule.

New: Kit class - starting 15 March 2023 - Next Wednesday 6:15pm and running for 4 weeks only we will be using the stretch bands to enhance our workout. This is a mixed level class, with options given for improvers up to advanced level, but not recommended for beginners.

New: Foundations Programme Starting April. This is a 6 week programme for absolute beginners or anyone that wants to take things back to basics.

How do you feel about spine flexion?

I know the thought of this would bring a lot of people out into a cold sweat.

There’s a lot of false information out there suggesting things like: spinal flexion is dangerous or you should only ‘bend from the knees’

Here my thoughts:🤔

👍Spine flexion is a movement that the spine is designed to do, and it should not be feared.

👎This movement won’t suit everybody because we are all different.

👂Listen to your body, it will tell you if it’s happy or not.

🐌 With any new movement start small and build up slowly.

Joseph Pilates says ‘you are only as young as your spine is flexible’
