It's World Mental Health Day today!

At Nanty Pharmacy, we are passionate about Mental Health & Wellbeing, and today we'd like to shout out a few local organisations, whose hard work and focus on providing safe spaces and improving the mental health of the community should be celebrated.

Billys Gym & Wellness Centre CIC
We're extremely lucky in the Llynfi Valley to have Billy's Gym & Wellness Centre, an incredible organisation who focus on putting the community truly at the heart of what they do. We're really excited to see their growth, and would encourage all to make use of what they offer. Thank you for all you do - we look forward to following your future endeavours!

The Social Counselling Collective
We're extremely happy to host The Social Counselling Collective providing FREE counselling on the last Wednesday of each month between 1 and 3pm.

"Despite an increased focus on Mental Wellbeing, Mental ill-health, and Mental Health, many people never get the chance to speak to a counsellor. There are many reasons for this, some of them relate to stigma and the continuing sense of shame and embarrassment that comes with talking openly about oneself, some relate to the lack of opportunity to ever have contact with a counsellor, and some people simply can’t afford it"
This is an amazing and much-needed initiative - please take advantage of this service provided by these incredible volunteer counsellors ❤️

Caerau Men Shed
The impact that Caerau Men's Shed have on local lives every day is incredible. We are so proud to be part of this community, and grateful to the wonderful people at the Men's Shed for their efforts and passion to help fight the stigma of mental health in men 🙏🏻🥰 always a warm welcome there!

Had this little guy gifted to us from a patient's travels 🐘
Anna asked her to bring her back an elephant - and she did! 🥰
How lucky are we to have such caring and thoughtful patients?!
We never take you for granted - things like this touch our hearts more than we can say ❤️

Anna is off this week for her own travels (nowhere quite as exotic, but lovely nonetheless), so you will be looked after by Callum, Kayleigh, Natalie, Leigh, Susan, Andrew and Emma 🥰

Attending the Independent Pharmacy Awards in Westminster! 💂🏻‍♀️
A fab day celebrating everything Community Pharmacy. Anna was honoured to be shortlisted as a Finalist for Independent Pharmacist of the Year, and although she didn't take the win this time, she did receive a High Commendation 🏆
Our friend and colleague Gareth Rhys Hughes of Tynewydd Pharmacy was named the winner, and we're extremely proud of him and the work he does for his community. Anna says that if she is going to come second to someone, she's very happy that it's Gareth, who absolutely deserves the recognition of his great work 👏🏻❤️
It's also a wonderful thing to celebrate that two out of the three finalists in this UK-wide award are from South Wales, and both from Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board! A great success for representation of Welsh Pharmacy in the House of Commons today.
Looking forward to the Welsh Pharmacy Awards 2025 on the 15th October! 🎉

New window vinyls listing the services we provide at Nanty! 🥳
Featuring my reflection trying to take a photo 🤣
Complete with a QR code for our new booking app! 🗓️
As we head into the winter months, and expect more people attending for chest infections and flu vaccinations, we'd encourage checking availability or booking for prescribing services - we'll always see walk-in patients where possible, but we don't want to disappoint or keep you waiting whilst we're busy with other patients if we can avoid it ⏰ - which is why we've invested in a booking app, to make it easier for you to check our availability! ⭐ And don't worry - it's odds on we'll be able to see you within 24h for most ailments, if we're not available straight away 😄
Our pharmacy staff are trained to undertake Stop Smoking Programmes, and our Technician can administer Flu Vaccinations, complete Discharge Medicines Reviews and issue Emergency Contraception - and now that we have Callum once or twice a week working alongside Anna, it will help to increase the amount of people we can see for Common Ailments and Independent Prescribing Services too! 🤩
Rest assured, we're putting everything we can into offering a wide range of services safely, effectively, and in a timely manner 🥰
