❄️Winter Wellness in TCM❄️

It’s no surprise that so many people feel run‑down at this time of year. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, winter belongs to the Water element and is deeply connected to the Kidney system — the body’s “battery” that governs our energy reserves, resilience, and immunity.
Just like nature, we’re meant to move into a season of rest, repair, and recharge. Slower days, deeper nourishment, more stillness.

But in reality?
Most people are rushing, stressed, and stretched thin in the lead‑up to Christmas — and that’s when the immune system starts to wobble.

Hi, I’m Nicole and I’m so happy to be joining Bernie at as a guest therapist.

I worked as a midwife in the NHS for 18 years, mostly in continuity models and birth centres. In 2019 I set up Essentially Birth, and today I focus on fascia-informed massage for pregnancy and postpartum. My work weaves together midwifery, aromatherapy, and yoga to support women as they prepare their bodies, minds, and spirits for birth.
I live with my partner Gerald and our cat Dylan. My daughter is now 25, and I honestly don’t know where the time has gone. I suppose that’s what happens when you love the life you live!

I grew up in Germany in a culture where we turned first to herbal teas, natural remedies, and rest. That early foundation still shapes the way I practise today, and it makes joining Bernie at Blossom feel like such a natural fit.

Outside of work, I love receiving massages, walking in nature, and practising yoga.

At Blossom I’ll be offering fascia-informed massage in both 90- and 60-minute sessions, each tailored to the needs of pregnancy or early motherhood.

From 2026 I will also open one space each month for one-to-one birth preparation for couples, offering a chance to practise movement for labour and birth with me.

🌿Welcoming Nicole Schlögel to Blossom Health NI 🌿

I’m pleased to introduce Nicole as a visiting practitioner at Blossom. She offers fascia-informed pregnancy massage, drawing on over 18 years of NHS midwifery experience to support women through pregnancy and postnatal recovery.

As I work with many pregnant women, welcoming Nicole feels like a natural step for Blossom. Her approach sits naturally alongside the care I offer.

Nicole is the founder of Essentially Birth, where she blends her midwifery background with massage, aromatherapy, and yoga to support women in preparing body, mind, and spirit for birth. She’s also a published author.
Several of my clients have spoken so highly of Nicole’s care, and some have even travelled to Belfast for treatments.

At Blossom, Nicole offers:

✨ I’m proud to share that I’ve recently been accepted into the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the UK’s leading professional body for traditional acupuncture. BAcC is regulated by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), ensuring that members meet rigorous standards for safety, ethics, and clinical excellence.

This also means my acupuncture treatments are now recognised by most major health insurance providers, allowing clients to potentially reclaim the cost of their sessions. It’s a significant step toward making holistic care more accessible, affordable, and professionally supported.

There are only a small number of BAcC-accredited practitioners in Northern Ireland, and I’m honoured to be among them. This recognition reflects both my clinical nursing background and training in Traditional Chinese Medicine — strengthening the bridge between traditional healing and modern healthcare standards.

More than a professional milestone, this marks a meaningful shift in how clients can access acupuncture that’s not only effective, but also recognised within regulated healthcare frameworks.

✨ Meet Harry—one of my long-standing clients and a true inspiration!

Harry has been a dedicated regular for the past two years, attending monthly acupuncture and herbal medicine treatments. Before finding support here, he struggled to get solutions through conventional healthcare, but now he’s thriving.

This morning, he arrived with a big smile—having already cycled 9 miles before his appointment! His energy and commitment to his well-being are truly admirable.

Beyond his treatments, Harry brings plenty of banter and craic, offering his wisdom on business, life, and even a bit of plumbing advice! I always love to see him coming—his visits brighten my day.
