Muscle tension and Trigger Points could be causing your headaches and migraines

Symptoms such as:
👉🏼 Pain around the ear
👉🏼 Pain behind the eyes
👉🏼 Pain Across the forehead
👉🏼 Ringing in the ear
👉🏼 Red, watery eye
👉🏼 TMJ (Jaw pain)

Can all be a sign of trigger points in the head and neck muscles

Trigger points are areas of muscle that get stuck, (there is a technical definition but ‘stuck’ seems appropriate and easier to digest 😄)

When an area of muscle gets stuck, the muscle can’t function as it should, blood and nutrients are restricted to that area, and pain can be felt in that area, but also, it can refer pain to other areas

☝🏼 One thing to note, a lot of the time where you’re feeling pain isn’t where it originates from

Trigger points have a characteristic pain pattern for each muscle, which helps us therapists identify which muscle, or quite often, muscles, are causing the issue

And once you get a trigger point in one muscle, you can get a domino effect where they pop up in surrounding muscles too.. oh how we love trigger points ‼️

I’ll do a separate post on them soon to explain in more detail

But I’m here to hunt these pesky points down and help relieve your symptoms

The Glutes.. aka the bum muscles, the peach 🍑

Some therapists don’t massage the glutes and stop at the hips. When I spoke at the college previously some of the students were scared to massage this area! and some people have watched my videos and been put off because they’ve seen the bum being massaged, but it’s such an important area to massage

🏃 The glutes provide movement, stability and power.. so they need massage just as much as any of the other muscles, if not more

☝🏼A lot of people’s pain problems originate from the hips, which are supported hugely by the glutes. If the hips or glutes are off, it can have effects going up to the neck or down to the feet. It’s important to remember that where you’re feeling pain, isn’t usually where it’s originating from

🤲🏼 Not only does massaging the glutes make the treatment feel much nicer and flowy than stopping at the hips, it’s also very important for relieving pain and improving posture

Especially for people who:
✨ Sit at a desk all day
✨ Drive a lot
✨ Kneel down often
✨ Train lower body

Releasing the glutes has huge benefits that you will feel in that area and throughout the body

And you don’t need to be underwear free, like in the video, I always give the option to the client, underwear on or off, whatever feels most comfortable for you
