Whilst reading the news on Artemis II, itâs made me remember how much of a bitch gravity is when you are pregnant.
The pressure đŁ The aches đ The tiredness đ¤
Being in the pool or bath were the only times I felt relief and more myself. Definitely a little less grouchy!
Water is magic â¨
There is still time to join me and a class full of other expectant mums, enjoying the benefits of aquanatal đŚ

Itâs goodbye to another block of classes and to some absolutely gorgeous mums-to-be who are now off to meet their babies.
The hardest part of my job is saying goodbye, but knowing theyâre moving on to something so much bigger and more beautiful makes it all worthwhile. Wishing each of them the most positive of births and the very best start with their little ones. đ
Classes are now on pause over the Easter period, but weâll be back from 15th and 16th April. I have limited spaces left, so if youâre thinking of joining us, make sure to get booked in.

I canât help myself, I see a perfect moment and I have to take a snap. Not just for me, but for my ladies to keep a memory of their journey.
This particular one, was when my ladies took time to slow down and sink into the moment. A great stretch to ease sciatic pain but also to breathe with intention, release tension, and feel their body and mind gently supported.
A little pocket of calm for you and your baby đ¤
I only have limited space for my April-May block of classes at Maldon and Rayleigh, contact me to chat!

One of the most loved moments of my classes is the final relaxation. Totally love how these two ladies fully immerse themselves every week in this part of the session, completely allowing their bodies to truly relax. đâ¨
When you submerge your ears (and even your eyes if it feels comfortable) the water softens outside noise, calms the nervous system, and creates a peaceful, womb-like stillness.
This moment helps release tension from the spine, slow the breath, and bring deep relaxation for both you and baby. đ¤
Sometimes the most powerful part of the class is simply floating, breathing, and being held by the water.

Some changes⌠a little life update from me
Teaching swimming has been such a big part of my life for the past 10 years, and Iâve genuinely loved every moment of it. The flexibility it gave me worked wonders for family life; being able to do school drop-offs and pick-ups, attend sports days and concerts, and save on childcare, just to name a few. I truly have no regrets.
However, for personal reasons I wonât bore you with, Iâve decided to take a step back from teaching swimming Monday to Friday and will be taking on a role at my local school instead. This change will bring more consistency, security and structure for my family, and itâs also a new challenge that Iâm really looking forward to.
Lotus Aqua is NOT affected and will still very much be part of my new weekly routine, along with my Saturday morning swimming classes. â¤ď¸
I will really miss all of my weekday swimmers - parents, babies and children⌠and I hope our paths cross again one day. đĽ°đââď¸ I will continue teaching my weekday lessons up until the Easter holidays.
Much love,
Hayley x

Some of my beautiful Rayleigh ladies from Thursdays đĽ°
Moving through water during pregnancy has so many benefits đ¤
The water supports your body, takes the pressure off your joints and back, and lets you move and stretch so much more comfortably. It can also help with swelling, circulation, and gently building strength as your body changes.
Plus itâs a lovely moment to slow down, move, breathe, and connect with your baby â¨

Thank you so much for the lovely review, it really means a lot. And hearing that youâve made some baby-mum friends for future meet ups is the cherry on top!
Although Iâm not sure my husband would agree that I have a calming voice, but Iâll definitely take it! đ

In my aquanatal classes, breath comes first. Movement comes second.
We move slowly on purpose.
Breath comes first because it supports your body as it changes. It creates space for baby and it helps you stay calm, steady, and connected.
Then we add movement.
Slow builds gentle, functional strength, improves balance as your centre shifts and helps you tune in instead of push through.
The water supports you but it doesnât rush you.
Breath first.
Then movement.
Strong, steady, supported, for you and your baby.

Hi, my name is Hayley and I am the owner of Lotus Aqua.
Following over 13 years within the insurance industry, I was given the opportunity to revisit my dream of teaching swimming. Upon completing my STA Level 1 Swimming Teacher qualification, I was blessed with the news that I was expecting my son. This quickly gave me the drive to complete my STA Parent & Baby Swimming Teacher qualification, before my son arrived.
After the birth of my son, I was unfortunately made redundant whilst enjoying my maternity leave and found myself at a cross road in my life. I had to think hard about what career path I wanted to take, which also allowed me to enjoy watching my son grow up. I absolutely loved being pregnant and something in my head kept nagging me that this was the direction I needed to go, but I also LOVED teaching swimming. So, in 2018 whilst my son was 1 year old, I studied hard and completed my full STA Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification and my Water Fitness Ante & Postnatal Exercise Qualification.
In November 2018 I launched my very first aquanatal class in Marks Tey and since then have expanded to 5 classes a week in Marks Tey, Maldon and Chelmsford, delivering classes to over 50 mums-to-be a week! It's been challenging but highly rewarding and I have met some lovely ladies along the way.
