đź’¦Aquanatal Yoga Classes in Maldon and Rayleigh, Essex
03/03/2026
In my aquanatal classes, breath comes first. Movement comes second.
We move slowly on purpose.
Breath comes first because it supports your body as it changes. It creates space for baby and it helps you stay calm, steady, and connected.
Then we add movement.
Slow builds gentle, functional strength, improves balance as your centre shifts and helps you tune in instead of push through.
The water supports you but it doesn’t rush you.
Breath first.
Then movement.
Strong, steady, supported, for you and your baby.

Every movement in my class is intentionally designed for the pregnant body 🤍
From gentle lateral extensions that create more room for baby and deeper breath…
To supportive core work that strengthens without strain…
To intentional pelvic floor connection, learning to both activate and fully release without force…
We explore hip openers to support a changing pelvis,
Chest openers to improve posture and create space for fuller, easier breathing,
And even vertical hangs from a noodle to softly decompress the spine and relieve tension.
To name some.
And the most important part?
It all works together..breath, strength, mobility, and release- to gently stimulate and regulate the central nervous system. Helping you feel grounded, supported, and connected in your changing body.
This isn’t about pushing harder.
It’s about moving smarter.
Creating space. Building strength. Supporting your body through your pregnancy and beyond. 🤍

Never tried yoga before? That’s absolutely fine.
Not feeling strong or confident in the water? No problem at all.
Prefer not to get your hair wet or submerge your ears? You’re definitely not alone.
Aquanatal yoga is for every body between 12 weeks pregnant and full term. Your body, your mind, and your baby can still enjoy all the beautiful benefits and I’ll always offer supportive alternatives to suit your comfort level and ability 🤰🏽✨
Come exactly as you are.

If you’ve recently found out you’re expecting and are starting to look for an antenatal exercise class that suits you, you might have lots of questions (which is completely normal!). Here are some of the ones I get asked the most, along with the answers. If there’s anything else you’d like to ask, just pop me a message - I’m always happy to help!

The gentle pressure of the water naturally slows your breath, helping you breathe deeper and feel more space through your ribs. Moving with your breath in the pool feels calming and supportive, easing tension and helping you stay relaxed during effort. A really helpful skill for both pregnancy and birth.
Float, breathe, connect 🤍

Hi, my name is Hayley and I am the owner of Lotus Aqua.
Following over 13 years within the insurance industry, I was given the opportunity to revisit my dream of teaching swimming. Upon completing my STA Level 1 Swimming Teacher qualification, I was blessed with the news that I was expecting my son. This quickly gave me the drive to complete my STA Parent & Baby Swimming Teacher qualification, before my son arrived.
After the birth of my son, I was unfortunately made redundant whilst enjoying my maternity leave and found myself at a cross road in my life. I had to think hard about what career path I wanted to take, which also allowed me to enjoy watching my son grow up. I absolutely loved being pregnant and something in my head kept nagging me that this was the direction I needed to go, but I also LOVED teaching swimming. So, in 2018 whilst my son was 1 year old, I studied hard and completed my full STA Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification and my Water Fitness Ante & Postnatal Exercise Qualification.
In November 2018 I launched my very first aquanatal class in Marks Tey and since then have expanded to 5 classes a week in Marks Tey, Maldon and Chelmsford, delivering classes to over 50 mums-to-be a week! It's been challenging but highly rewarding and I have met some lovely ladies along the way.
