A little Cheshire gem - perfect for little legs! 🌲

📍 Bickerton Hill, Cheshire

Walk details:

🥾 Distance: approx. 4.8 km circular route
🅿️ Parking: Free NT car park on Goldford Lane + limited roadside spots
🔥 Difficulty: Easy–Medium (sandy paths, a few uneven sections, gentle inclines)
🌲 Scenery: Woodland trails, open sandstone ridge, and stunning views across the Cheshire Plain
🐶 Dog-friendly: Plenty of space, but keep pups close to protect wildlife

If you’re looking for an easy, family-friendly day out in North Wales, we love Alyn Waters Country Park in Wrexham. It’s perfect for little adventurers - think gentle woodland walks, riverside paddling spots, a brilliant playground, and a lovely café to warm up afterwards.

I’ve put together a full guide to the best walks, facilities, kid-friendly highlights, and everything you need to plan a visit.

A lovely weekend exploring Anglesey with my two littles 🫶 We had such a great day on Saturday exploring Rhoscolyn in the sunshine - followed by a tasty meal at The White Eagle (100% would recommend!)

5 Family Walks for October Half Term 📍 North Wales

🏰 Castell Dinas Bran – A steady climb and a proper leg-stretch, rewarded with big views over Llangollen.

🌲 Newborough Forest – Sand, sea and forest – the best mix for an easy walk in Anglesey.

🌿 Alyn Waters Country Park – Flat paths, woodland, and plenty of room for the kids to run. Plus, a fab park at the end!

💧 Betws Y Coed River Walk – A peaceful circular walk along the river, starting in one of my favourite villages in Snowdonia.

🌊 Conwy Falls – A short walk with a big pay-off; the waterfall never disappoints.

3 Easy Walks in the Peak District 🌿

A few highlights from a weekend in the Peak District with the family! All three are easy, family-friendly routes up in the North Peak District area, perfect for a day out with little legs (or kids in carriers 👶).

1️⃣ West Nab – sweeping views and open moorland.
2️⃣ Dovestone Reservoir – a gentle loop with plenty of picnic spots.
3️⃣ Pots and Pans via Alderman’s Hill – a bit of a climb to start, but worth it for the memorial views at the top.

All close to Dovestone Reservoir - peaceful, scenic, and perfect for families who love a good explore. 💚 Save for your next Peak District adventure!
