This Black History Month, let’s talk about rewriting resilience—the resilience of Black women.
Too often, we’ve been celebrated for our strength while our struggles remain unseen.
For centuries, the narrative around Black women has focused on enduring, pushing through, and surviving in the face of overwhelming odds. Yes, I know this too well and unfortunately it perpetuates self-reliance and can stop us from reaching out for a bit of help when needed.. Im hold my hands up to this too.. But you know what , resilience is more than just surviving—it’s about thriving against the odds and finding advantage in adversity whilst not minimising lived experiences.
It’s time to reclaim that narrative and prioritize our mental wellbeing in a safe space and thats why I'm please to be hosting - Rewriting Resilience : Reclaiming Black Womens narrative for Mental Wellbeing.
We will have listening circles, guest speakers including Dr Erica McInnis and a time of empowerment
Black women have carried generations on their shoulders, yet society often expects us to keep going without stopping to care for ourselves.
True resilience isn’t about hiding pain or sacrificing our mental health. It’s about knowing when to pause, seek help, and put ourselves first.
It’s time to normalize healing, to empower ourselves to be vulnerable, and to rewrite our stories 👏🏾👏🏾
Let’s celebrate the power of Black women who are not only strong but also mindful of their emotional and mental wellbeing.
It’s time to break the cycle of burnout, generational trauma and reclaim our right to rest, recover, and rise.
This Black History Month, let’s reclaim our narrative. Prioritize your mental wellbeing, and support the women in your life to do the same.
