At Derian House, we're passionate about tackling the stigma around child loss, and want to open up the conversation - encouraging friends and family to talk about the child and remember them ✨

Some of our families have told us that using a stamp when signing Christmas cards feels like a good way of remembering and including their child who has passed away, so we're once again offering a special uniquely-designed stamp - with your child's initial and a symbol* 🎄

You don't have to be a Derian family to receive a stamp. This is available to anyone who has experienced the loss of a child and may find comfort in using this idea 🥰

We would like to say a huge thank you to The Open Kitchen in Longsight for providing us with some lovely food during our Macmillan coffee morning yesterday! The Open Kitchen is based next to The Pakistani Community Centre in Longsight and provides free hot meals to those in need 7 days a week 11am - 2pm. Some helpful information for our families.

No matter the weather, if you're caring for a seriously ill child it's essential that you register for the Priority Services Register.

This means that if there are any planned or unplanned outages of water, gas or electricity you will be prioritised as needing extra support. This might mean a generator is delivered to your house or bottles of water.

Do you know what an Advance Care Plan is?

If you are caring for a seriously ill child, it can be overwhelming to make decisions in difficult moments.

An Advance Care Plan will help you to prepare for these moments by planning ahead. It will make sure yours and your child's wishes are carried out, allowing you to focus on being with your child.

And you don't have to make one alone. Together with your healthcare team, and your child if appropriate, you can discuss and agree upon actions to help ensure things go smoothly.
