Some helpful information for our families.

No matter the weather, if you're caring for a seriously ill child it's essential that you register for the Priority Services Register.

This means that if there are any planned or unplanned outages of water, gas or electricity you will be prioritised as needing extra support. This might mean a generator is delivered to your house or bottles of water.

It's free and takes only minutes πŸ‘‰ https://bit.ly/43RphDD

A school or nursery with an appropriate bereavement policy is prepared and has plans in place to deal with death, grief, and bereavement.

let’s break down the stigma and taboo of talking about death and dying πŸ¦‹

Do you know what an Advance Care Plan is?

If you are caring for a seriously ill child, it can be overwhelming to make decisions in difficult moments.

An Advance Care Plan will help you to prepare for these moments by planning ahead. It will make sure yours and your child's wishes are carried out, allowing you to focus on being with your child.

And you don't have to make one alone. Together with your healthcare team, and your child if appropriate, you can discuss and agree upon actions to help ensure things go smoothly.

Find out more about Advance Care Plans and how to create one on our website: https://www.togetherforshortlives.org.uk/get-support/information-about-your-childs-care/care-planning-in-advance/

Here at Derian House, keeping a child's memory alive after they have passed is something we take great pride in doing. Our annual Forget-me-not service, counselling, monthly support groups - and the recent campaign - are just some of the ways we help to support our bereaved families πŸ₯°
