This is just a rant about ADHD I was at my mum's funeral and my auntie said that everyone has a bit of ADHD and I was like no they don't and she said well my friend has it since high functioning and she can live with it and I went good for your friend some people with ADHD are not high functioning we have problems and we struggle with ADHD like keeping our place tidy for getting to eat we overeat we forget appointments we're always late and sleep problems come with having ADHD as well I said cuz I have insomnia and my auntie said insomnia does not get caused by having ADHD I was like are you a doctor if not shut up and my auntie about you just need to have high functioning ADHD because having non-high functioning ADHD is ridiculous I was like not all people can cope with their ADHD Emma but she didn't believe me does anyone else have this problem with their families saying all this or am I the only one because then I tried to explain to my family about my ADHD they don't believe me it's like they're all saying I'm lazy on this and that on the other does anyone else's family have a go at you if you have ADHD because by the sounds of it I'm the only one that does and it makes my life living with ADHD a living hell

**Not All ADHD Looks the Same**

For years, many people believed ADHD had one look: someone who couldn't sit still, constantly interrupted others, and seemed full of energy. That's why so many adults went undiagnosed. They didn't fit the stereotype, even though they were struggling every day.

Some people battle distraction, forget appointments, lose track of conversations, and spend hours searching for things they just had in their hands. Others feel restless, act on impulse, or find waiting almost impossible. Then there are those who experience a mix of both, constantly switching between racing thoughts, forgotten tasks, bursts of energy, and unfinished projects.

The important thing to understand is that ADHD isn't one-size-fits-all. Different people experience it differently, but they often share the same invisible challenge: working twice as hard to manage a world that wasn't built for the way their brain operates.

**The 10-Minute Task That Somehow Takes an Hour**

Leaving the house should be simple. Grab your keys, put on your shoes, and go. But for many people with ADHD, it's rarely that straightforward. You remember the laundry, then forget why you walked into the kitchen. You spend five minutes searching for your keys, only to realize they've been in your hand the entire time.

Just when you're finally ready, something else grabs your attention. An old letter on the counter. A random thought. The sudden urge to check one thing before leaving. Every distraction feels important in the moment, and before you know it, you're running late again.

From the outside, it looks chaotic. From the inside, it's a brain constantly responding to whatever feels most urgent right now. The funny part is that many ADHD and AuDHD adults know exactly what's happening while it's happening—and somehow still end up doing it anyway.
