Great to be part of The Breast Health and Wellbeing Event at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust yesterday.Speaking to patients about the benefits of exercise and some self referrals into CAN-Move made.Also good to see some partner colleagues from Breast Cancer Now.Look out for more details about their Salford Moving Forward Course on our page soon ๐Ÿค

With October being Breast Cancer awareness month,here are some positive effects of exercise on breast cancer specific side effects .These include:

-Prevent / reduce lymphedema
-Improve body composition
-Improve shoulder range of movement
-Reduce osteoporosis risk
-Reduce chronic joint pain
-Reduce cardiomyopathy risk
-Reduce cognitive dysfunction
-Improve menopausal symptoms
-Increase confidence

Join us for a gentle, supportive Wellbeing Walk at Lightoaks Park, open to anyone experiencing or supporting someone through Peri-Menopause or Menopause.

After the walk, head to our Menopause Cafรฉ at Height Library for a cuppa and friendly, open conversation around wellbeing, symptoms, and support.

Great to get outside yesterday for some outdoor movement, at our CAN-Move wellbeing walk at Buile Hill Park

Moving, chatting, getting some vitamin D,and seeing signs of the change of season ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚

Walking is a low impact form of activity, with many physical and mental health benefits.Benefical during and after cancer treatment, and for many, can be great place to start if not already exercising.

This week is Falls Prevention Week.

The national campaign aims to empower older adults and those at risk to take proactive steps to reduce their chances of falling. Most falls are preventable, and this year's theme aims to raise awareness of putting prevention into action.

Our Active Lifestyles team have a selection of various strength and balance exercise videos to test this and help improve them overall.

You can also attend our Postural Stability and Step Up classes to help improve confidence, maintain independence and reduce falls and social isolation.

SALFORD WALKING FESTIVAL 2025
Every year the Salford Ranger Team co-ordinate the Salford Walking Festival. There are over 40 walks taking place during September & October in Salford, varying in length, pace and include some with different themes. This is a fantastic way to explore all the wonderful places to walk in Salford.

There are some 'One-Off' Salford Community Wellbeing Walks which have been added you can see on page 7 and on the picture below. For our particular walks:
- No booking is required
- Wear flat grippy shoes or trainers
- Wear suitable clothing for the weather
- Bring some water
- No dogs allowed

(Please note, other walks in the brochure may require you to book on. Please read the info on the particular walk advertised).
