Future Perfect was originally set up in 2007 by musician, DJ, producer and artist Lee Wyatt - known to some as Zen Kira - and two friends took on the mammoth challenge of organising a music & arts festival for charity while studying at Durham University. Lee showed courage and bravery beyond belief but, despite two major operations and 15 months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy lost his battle with bowel cancer on 25th April 2010, aged just 25 years. Lee, an incredibly talented, gifted young man, DJ’d in and around Manchester and a member of the band ‘humanizer’ also left a great legacy of music on his website www.zenkira.co.uk. During his illness Lee used art and music as a form of escapism to help him cope with the most difficult and darkest days imaginable. He would totally immerse himself in the creating and producing of music and art, to distract himself from the reality of terminal illness. He believed that music and art should never be underestimated as a form of therapy, regardless of age or ability. Just by listening to a fantastic song or looking at a painting, it took him to another place in his mind, relieving the stress of physical and emotional pain. And now his legacy lives on through Future Perfect. As an inspiration to all cancer patients and everyone who knew him, his family decided to continue the work he had started by bringing Future Perfect to Manchester. It's their wish to make Future Perfect an annual event, believing it to be a fitting tribute to this brilliant young, up and coming producer of music and art. A highlight of Lee's last year was when he and TV Comedian Russell Howard became friends following a surprise birthday treat when Russell took Lee for a pint to celebrate his 25th birthday, with both having an amazing day out. Russell, a true gent holds a special place in our hearts for the kindness and compassion he showed during those last months of his life, so much so that he dedicated a "Good News" edition of his TV series to Lee the week that he passed away. And now Russell returns to headline the Future Perfect Festival. After countless hours of organising and rallying an extraordinary group of devoted volunteers, the Future Perfect Manchester team was created. Founders Adam Sayer and Lee's mother Linda established the Festival outline, deciding on date and the central Manchester location. When they approached Music Festival specialist Clive Leighton of Public-i Music Events things started to really take shape with the organising foundations and expanded vision moving Future Perfect up several levels. The team quickly embraced Paul "Derbo" Derbyshire as General Stage Manager, Georgina Hoult as event support with Amy Dutton and Russell Cordingley handling website input. As the Festival develops with more sponsors, partners and "Dream Team" members coming on board, you can check all developments on the News pages on the website. We aim to raise as much money as possible for The Christie (Cancer Hospital) and to raise awareness of cancer in children and young adults. It's our intention to be the baton that passes Lee's inspiration on to other sufferers and their support, hoping to make all of their futures just a little less traumatic and to give them some positives, if only fleetingly. We will create an annual legacy that will see us all combine as one to celebrate; those who have triumphed through adversity, those battling as you read this and the strength of family, friends & colleagues who are there whatever each day brings, touching hearts and minds in the way that only Art and Music lifting the human spirit can. Together, we can fight and beat this unforgiving taker of dreams by replacing the negatives with OUR positives by bonding with a common unity - our community - creating a positive optimism by making the future, perfect. All profits will be donated to The Christie Hospital. Registered Charity Number 1049751
