Oakley's Thought of the Week
Many people won’t know this, but in addition to caring for our own families, we also support other funeral homes when they need an extra helping hand. This week, our team has been out across the North West providing additional vehicles and assistance.
It’s always interesting to see the subtle differences in the way each funeral home works — even within our own region, there are unique touches and traditions that reflect the communities they serve.
It made me think of the many ways people around the world honour their loved ones. In Mexico, families celebrate Día de los Mu***os with bright colours, candies, and food to welcome back the spirits of those they’ve lost. In Japan, the Obon festival sees lanterns lit to guide ancestors’ souls home. In Ghana, some funerals feature beautifully carved “fantasy coffins” that celebrate a person’s life and passions.
What’s one tradition, gesture, or keepsake that you feel best captures the way you remember someone special? 🌿
