New Project Announcement – Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital!
We’re pleased to have commenced works at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, delivering a complex refurbishment to the Tower View Building as part of the programme to safely remove RAAC panels.
This project presents a number of technical challenges, including the careful dismantling of the existing slate roof to access the panels, which currently support key M&E services fixed to their underside. To facilitate this, our team is undertaking a full first-floor strip-out, removing ceilings, internal partitions, services, finishes and fittings ahead of the refurbishment works.
A key priority throughout the 25-week programme is maintaining a safe and fully operational environment on the ground floor, which remains in use by hospital staff. Extensive planning has been essential, with measures including a full scaffold structure, temporary roof enclosure, and dedicated access routes via external stairs and a goods hoist, ensuring safe separation between construction works and the live environment below.
This project highlights our capability in delivering technically demanding works within live, sensitive environments, with safety, coordination and programme control at the forefront.
