After 78 weeks on site, we’re proud to share the completion and on-time handover of the Woodbury Transformation at Bury College.

This major refurbishment project has delivered:
✅ A brand-new bistro & teaching kitchen
✅ A specialist nutrition laboratory
✅ A new external courtyard
✅ A welcoming new entrance & external upgrades
✅ Multiple classroom adaptations & improvements
✅ An energy-efficient VRF system serving several classrooms

The fly-through showcases the scale and detail of each phase, from concept to completion.

What goes in to taking on an apprentice? Join us and take a look at one of our apprentice induction and training days. Each new employee will spend a whole morning with an experience construction tutor who will deliver awareness training in:
- Health & Safety
- Manual Handling
- Working at Heigh
- Asbestos

After this an experienced member of our team will carry out some face fit tests to ensure the new apprentice can work safely in dust environments with a proper fitting mask.

After this, it's down to the paperwork. We run through all the necessary forms to get the lads set up as a new employee at H. H. Smith.

We then kit them out in our stylish branded workwear and ensure they have all the necessary PPE to get them going.

Here's the latest on the roofing project at Touchstones, Rochdale:

The timber repair specialists have completed the essential timber repairs and replacements to several trusses, purlins, and rafters.

Now, are roofing contractor is installing new insulation which is going to boost energy efficiency, followed by the installation of a breather membrane before we they start to re-instate the original slates.

As part of our social value contribution on the Touchstones Rochdale project, we have recently manufactured, supplied and installed 2 new planters for the amazing team at Petrus.

Petrus are a charity that provide support to people who are homeless or in housing need, they offer a safe environment where people can develop their skills and independence to empower change.

It's a privilege to play a small part in a project which will help service users come together, grow and create a welcoming space for all.

✨ Project Completion ✨

We’re proud to announce the successful completion of the Bury College Woodbury Transformation Project

Delivered over a 78-week programme, this project was carried out in a live college environment, which meant working hand-in-hand with the college team every step of the way.

By carefully phasing the works and maintaining close collaboration, we ensured minimal disruption to students and staff while keeping the project on track. This proactive approach also streamlined the handover process – allowing a smooth transition into the newly transformed spaces.

After a meticulous doff clean—an restoration technique that preserves the historic façade without harm—the talented stone masons from Mather and Ellis have performed crucial repairs, including new indents and decorative replacements on the river-side windows.

Tom and Ashley from M&E are expertly aligning the final voussoirs in the window arch, salvaging original stones where possible.

Handpicked for quality, replacement materials were chosen through an extensive sampling process with conservation architects Donald Insall.

Phase Completion – Bury College Woodbury Transformation

We’re proud to announce the successful completion of Phase 5 at the Bury College, Woodbury Transformation project.

This phase has delivered:

Major internal alterations to create a striking new entrance and central hub

External steel frame and curtain walling

New hard and soft landscaping, providing welcoming access into the new entrance

The transformation has created a modern, functional and inspiring space for staff, students, and visitors alike.

Exciting progress at the Science & Industry Museum!

New Warehouse Roof nearing completion!

Temporary roof removed from the New Warehouse to reveal the now fully slated roof. Over 60,000 slates have been installed, new rooflights and a discrete roof access system.
