                                            Renee and Sarah’s story
Renee 46, and her partner sarah have been together for 22 years. When Sarah was diagnosed with early onset dementia, Renee became her full time carer. While she still had mental capacity, Sarah set up a lasting power of attorney so that Renee could make financial decisions for her.
Renee says “ I had so much on my plate when sarah was first diagnosed, and practicalities weren’t top of the list. But my friends suggested HARP LAW, they did all the hard work, filling in all the forms to set up a lasting power of attorney for financial decisions. We had money that we wanted to invest, so it could be used for Sarah’s care if she ever needed it.”
“Ive been in charge of making the financial decisions for 18 months, i wouldnt do anything without discussing it with Sarah first - but she trusts me to make the best decisions for her. Having a lasting power of attorney means we can properly prepare for the future.”
