There was a lovely atmosphere at Askham House on Tuesday as we welcomed a live singer for the day 🎤

Our residents enjoyed the music, with plenty of singing along, a bit of dancing and lots of smiles throughout. It was one of those moments that really lifted the room and brought everyone together 💃🎵

Last week as part of our Food Travel Wednesday, our kitchen turned its focus to Italy 🇮🇹

Our team prepared Chicken Primavera with orzo, a dish that highlights how much care goes into every plate, from selecting fresh ingredients to achieving the right balance of flavour and texture.

Within our Food Travel programme, each dish is carefully adapted and prepared to ensure it is both enjoyable and suitable for individual needs, while still bringing something different to the menu 🌍

After sharing one of our Food Travel Wednesday dishes, we had a request from the community for the recipe… so we’re delighted to share that it’s now live on our website 🌍🍽️

Our catering team prepared Kahari Kebab Khyberi, a dish inspired by the cultures and nationalities within our team and enjoyed by our residents as part of our weekly Food Travel journey.

At Askham, food is about more than nutrition. It’s about bringing variety, introducing new flavours and creating something to look forward to each week.

Preparations are already underway for our Summer Fayre 2026 and we’re excited to get things started ☀️🎉

Taking place on Saturday, 1st August, our Summer Fayre will be a fantastic day for the whole community, filled with activities, entertainment and plenty to enjoy for all ages.

We are now inviting stall holders to book their place and be part of the day. If you would like to get involved, please contact our Activities Team at activities@askhamvillagecommunity.com

It’s set to be a fun-filled event with lots of stalls, activities and a great community atmosphere. We can’t wait to see it all come together! 💛

Last week for our Food Travel Wednesday, we travelled to Nigeria 🇳🇬

Our residents enjoyed a vibrant and flavourful meal of jollof rice, chicken and fried plantain, bringing a real taste of Nigerian cuisine into our homes.

Each week, our Food Travel journey reflects the diversity within our team, with dishes inspired by the different nationalities of our staff. It’s a wonderful way of sharing cultures, introducing new flavours and creating meaningful experiences for our residents.

We’re looking forward to discovering where we’ll travel next 🌍

Our resident June was very excited to receive her hamper and it was just as lovely to see Ryan, a relative of one of our team members, enjoying his prize too.

It’s been a busy week in the garden, with residents getting hands-on planting and bringing more colour into the space 🌸

Together, they worked on the garden bed, adding beautiful wall flowers (Erysimum Bowles Mauve) and planting bulbs at the back, which will continue to bloom year after year 💛

It’s so lovely to see the space evolving with everyone’s efforts, creating something that can be enjoyed not just now, but for seasons to come 🌷

We had a great start to the week at Askham House as Visosport joined us for a chair-based exercise session 💛

Our residents got involved in a range of movements, with plenty of encouragement, smiles and a real sense of motivation throughout the room. It was lovely to see everyone taking part at their own pace and enjoying the session together.

We’re looking forward to supporting Kelly In The Community this weekend at her Easter Fundraiser 🐣💛

Join us on Sunday, 5th April, 10am–1pm for a lovely community event with lots of stalls, activities and plenty of fun for everyone to enjoy.

It’s always so special to come together and support local initiatives and we’re delighted to be part of this one alongside Kelly, Tesco Community Champion.

There was a lovely buzz in Askham Court yesterday as residents got ready for Easter in the sweetest way 🐣🍰

Together, they made two beautiful Easter cakes, carefully decorating them and adding their own creative touches. By the time they were finished, everyone was already looking forward to enjoying a slice after lunch!

It’s moments like these that make the lead up to Easter so special, bringing everyone together to create, share and enjoy something delicious.

They looked just as good as they tasted 💛
