Some babies born with a heart defect will have surgery when their heart is roughly the size of a walnut - often within the first few days of life.❤️

Neonatal heart surgeons operate wearing binocular-style glasses that enlarge the miniature veins they have to stich. Some operations last three to five hours but the most complex ones can take up to twenty four hours to give these tiny babies the best possible future with their heart condition. ❤️💙

Today is the start of CHD awareness month and
everything the foundation does is for Ronnie so as always it’s only right that our first post of the month is dedicated to him ♥️ Below you can read our champs heartbreaking story 💔😭😩

Ronnie was just two years old.

In those two short years, he attended QEQM Hospital in Margate around ten times with serious breathing problems.

Each time, he was sent home with diagnoses such as tonsillitis, a chest infection, or a viral infection.During this period, Ronnie had a chest X-ray. An enlarged heart was missed, and the report stated his chest was clear.

Eventually, Ronnie’s little body could take no more.He stopped breathing at home and was rushed by blue light to hospital. He was stabilised and transferred to London, where we repeatedly heard the words no parent should ever hear:
“They don’t think he’s going to make it.”
But Ronnie did.

He fought with unbelievable bravery and strength the strength of a lion, the heart of a champion.

In one London hospital , Ronnie was diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy and later transferred to Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea. There, he fought for nine weeks, enduring cardiac arrests and suffering no baby should ever have to face.

Losing Ronnie was, and always will be, the worst time of our lives. Our world will never be the same without him.

All we could do was turn our pain into purpose & power, carry his strength in our hearts, and stand tall for him.

That is when we started this foundation to help other babies and children facing what Ronnie did, and those going through similar battles.

We miss him beyond words and will forever share his beautiful smile, his memories, and the story of our beautiful champion.

Thankyou to everyone for their continued support for Ronnie, The foundation and CHD’S it means a lot♥️🫶

The Wheatsheaf Margate is appealing to Thanet folk to help make the wish of a terminally ill little girl come true.
The pub is joining the efforts of fellow Hungry Horse outlet, the Star in Gillingham, to help Amelia receive 8,000 cards for her 8th birthday on March 3.
The youngster, from Gillingham, was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in 2020. She underwent just short of two years of intensive treatment, including high dose chemo, immunotherapy and radiotherapy, and reached a stable condition.
Sadly the cancer returned twice and Amelia is now receiving palliative care.
She hopes to break the UK record with her bumper birthday card target.
The Star pub is heading up the campaign but The Wheatsheaf Margate has stepped up to offer support.
Cards can be taken into The Wheatsheaf at Northdown Park Road
