Our body is layered with muscles and each and every one has a function and purpose. Some we overuse, some we underuse, some we forget to use, some we injure, some we use wrong and some we use right. We tense muscles when we are stressed, we bend over our phones and we sit in one position without stretching our limbs.
That is how muscles can shorten, lengthen, get knotty and how our posture can change and aches and pains can creep in.
Our body is wonderfully made, our muscles can recover most of the time and our posture can improve if we take just a little bit of time to look after ourselves.
Many things contribute to this: going to a pilates class, stretching in the morning when you get up, taking time out from bending over our phones, deep breaths...or having a massage that gives body and soul some attention...especially those under- and overused muscles and our mind that can do with a time out.
