Traditional Nutrition Today Understand why Traditional Nutrition is more relevant today than ever! Brought to you by The Real Food Company and Fordhall Farm. So who are we?

Traditional Nutrition Today

Our next conference is going to be held at Fordhall Farm on the Saturday 27th February 2016. The group organising the conference formed in 2014 and have since organised two conferences guided and being improved through your input. We gathered together because of a shared passion for natural food, local food and animals raised on natural pasture and we are enjoying each year as we learn more with you. Well, we have Silvie, Carol and Nick from the Real Food Company, an award winning family business based in Alsager, Cheshire. They have been involved with natural nutritional and health for over 20 years. Carol and her daughter Silvie are Cheshire Chapter Leaders for the Weston Price Foundation. www.therealfoodcompany.org.uk

Charlotte from Fordhall Farm. A small but sunny community-owned farm in North Shropshire. Fordhall has been organic for over 65 years. Charlotte has first hand experience on how important healthy soil is. www.fordhallfarm.com

We are working in association with the Weston A. Price Foundation, which is based in the US and was set up to promote the health benefits of natural food and the importance of how it is produced. They provide education and information they also carry out research, which enables people to make a more informed choices about what they eat. In the UK there is an annual conference each year held near to London. http://chapters.westonaprice.org/londonuk/

The Weston A. Price Foundation was set up to help empower people with the knowledge needed to make informed dietary choices, to sort through all the dogma attached to so-called healthy eating, and to help set the picture straight. Traditional food wisdom, passed down the generations has much for us to learn from. www.westonaprice.org

The food was once again, absolutely fantastic, both at lunch time and in the evening. Thank you James for coming with your really special Trealy Farm charcuterie... and a big thank you to Holly for manning our stall all day out in the cold :-)

Microbiologist Tobias Olofsson of Sweden’s Lund University is developing a probiotic mead that he believes will help fight off super-tough, drug-resistant infections.

Fermentation has been used by peoples all around the world for millennia. When they were unsure if their water was safe to drink and to store - they made fermented beverages as this then gave some protection from pathogenic microbes. The fermentation process is known to enhance some of the properties of the foods/herbs added to flavour the ferment, too. A win win situation!

Researchers are investigating centuries-old alcoholic beverages for potential medicines.

One of our speakers on February 27th will be Robert Andrew Brown from the McCarrison Society, an organisation that has been around for many, many years to promote good nutrition to all.
This is a brief introduction to what they are about. One of the founder members of the McCarrison Society was Dr Lionel Picton from Holmes Chapel in Cheshire. This is just down the road from our shop, and we know people who remember him. He was quite a character!

1. Promote health by advocating sound nutrition according to the teaching of the late Sir Robert McCarrison, who believed that the most important factor in restoring health is healthy nutrition.
