I’m Incredibly proud to announce a new (utterly amazing) venture…

For months I’ve been working behind the scenes with an incredible team to introduce a phenomenal new brand to the Uk.

We will be launching our new spa brand soon and currently working hard to create a business development plan for Spa businesses and independents to introduce into their salons across the UK.

The best thing about all of this is, our customers in Market Harborough will be the first in the Uk to experience the products and treatments (more to come on this)

Monday was a huge milestone seeing all of our hard work delivered and in the warehouse ready for our marketing shoot… which I cannot wait to share with you all.

Let Me Re-Introduce Myself Part 4

Hi, I’m Jen, Owner of Revive Skin and Spa.

The part where the struggles were real!

I have Crohns Disease and to cut a very long story short, just as the business was doing well and we had created a community of the most wonderful clients, my health went downhill so much so I had multiple organ failure and rushed to hospital… just as Covid hit!

I watched the world close down from a small tv in the ward and days would go by where I was barely conscious enough to even look at my phone. My body was attacking itself and tumours were forming, inflammation was so high I was critical and hours from surgery.

The surgeon wanted to operate that afternoon but some fight left in me saved me from heading to surgery that afternoon to remove my bowels and he said I had 24 hours to start responding to the treatment, they started me on an old form of chemotherapy and one which had strong clinical studies for my disease. Oh my goodness it was brutal! 6 hours on and 6 hours off for weeks, I was so sick and the saddest part was no-one could visit, I was completely alone fighting my own battle and worrying about the world in lockdown.

Fast forward a few months and I made it home and from my sick bed quite literally I started giving our community of clients tips on self care at home and sharing my knowledge… having my business was my purpose and it gave me a focus. We sent out care packages to clients and it was great to keep the engagement going despite a few more trips to the hospital and pneumonia.

All small businesses were afraid of what the impact of Covid would be and there were many times I thought I’d lose what we had spent so much time creating but as the world opened up so did the business. They changed my chemo to one I tolerated better and I came back, a little bit more fatigued and a little bit physically weaker but surprisingly even more focused and determined to build on what we had already created…

Exciting opportunities were coming, I just didn’t know it yet…

Let me re-introduce myself (part 3)

Hi, my name’s Jen and I’m the owner of Revive Skin and Spa.

I started all over again and opened my business from home and threw everything into growing it. What began in a spare space quickly turned into something bigger until we converted our garage into a salon.

That should have been a turning point.
Instead, it nearly broke us.

A builder (from hell) left us dealing with the kind of stress you don’t forget. Financially, emotionally… it hit really hard but we carried on because at that point, stopping wasn’t an option.

I launched the new salon and as the business grew, I knew it had to stand for more than just treatments.

So I partnered with a local Leicestershire and Rutland cancer charity and made a commitment, one day every month, we closed the salon and treated cancer patients and their carers for free. No agenda. Just giving something back to people in their hour of need when it actually mattered.

I also started opening up the space to training therapists, letting them use the rooms for free while they built their confidence and their businesses. I’ve always believed women should empower other women and we should be each others cheerleaders.

I was nominated and won female entrepreneur of the year in Leicestershire and for the first time since starting my business I realised my business was making a difference to people and I was being recognised for the way we approached our customer service and treatments.

Market Harborough business awards also nominated us and we came runners up in another award ceremony, it such an amazing experience because everything we had done to date was completely with the focus on our clients and the different way we approached our business and brand.

But what came next was devastating…

Let me re-introduce myself (part 2)

Hi my name's Jen and I'm the owner of Revive Skin and Spa.

How did we get to where we are now? The owner of a beautiful day spa.

After giving up my career to rehabilitate Jaime, I went back to studying. The studies combined with existing knowledge and experience of clinical and commercial all became aligned and it all came together, science, wellbeing, customer care, treatment plans...
I wanted to create an opportunity for results driven treatments in an environment tailored completely to individuals.

I concentrated on Skin Science, Skin Health and Dermatology and started my own business. Soon realising my passion for learning and treating skin conditions, getting customers to their goals and just generally making people feel special.

However, with that said, the fear of Jaime relapsing was very real, he had been in and out of PICU continuously, every time we got him home a few weeks later he would be blue lighted back again.

So we made a big decision!

We moved to Market Harborough where my family and life long friends were based to give us support.

My business in Hertfordshire was doing so well and the thought of packing up and starting again filled me with dread! But family first always, it was an important move for us as a family and I didn’t know it yet, but something amazing was about to happen….

Let me re-introduce myself (Part 1)

Hi, I’m Jen,

Owner of Revive Skin and Spa in Market Harborough.

Where to start… it’s definitely been a journey to be where I am today and it means something extra special when you can support other people’s dreams aswell as your own.

Where did it all begin?

Before any of this life was completely different, I worked across multiple industries, end of life care, dental sector, corporate buying and I spent most of my twenties working abroad.

At the age of just 7, Our son Jaime was sadly admitted to PICU at the Royal Brompton in London.
Over the next 18months we would be told on multiple occasions to prepare for the worst.
We were in survival mode! I lived at the hospital accommodation and my husband was raising our daughter inbetween hospital visits.
Throughout everything Jaime found unbelievable strength and resilience but it left him weak, barely able to walk and he needed 24hour care, so I made the decision to leave my career to rehabilitate him at home.

It was extremely Isolating and lonely. He couldn’t even walk to the end of the road and back. Such a poorly boy but so strong willed.

As he slowly recovered I went back to studying. Skin, Health, Science & Healing.

I went back to the place which held us through our darkest days, because I knew we were the lucky ones, other parents were still there and I knew exactly how they felt, exhausted and running on empty. I went back to the Royal Brompton to treat other parents in PICU free of charge.

That’s where my story begins…
