Blocks, straps, and blankets have a place in everyone's practice. Here's how to use them to find better alignment in 5 common poses.

Yoga Myths De-bunked: Myth #3

Yoga is just for women?...

One of the biggest misconceptions about yoga is that it is mostly for women.

In reality, yoga was originally practised by men and was never intended for just one gender. Over time, modern marketing and social media have often presented yoga in a way that looks exclusive, but the practice itself is for everybody.

Yoga can support strength, mobility, balance, focus, and inner calm. It is not about fitting a certain image or being a certain type of person. It is about meeting yourself where you are and discovering what the practice can offer you.
Whether you are male or female, completely new to yoga, or someone who has never felt it was “for you,” there is space for you here.

Yoga is for everybody ..

Yoga Myths De-bunked: Myth #2

Yoga is just a workout..

One of the biggest misconceptions about yoga is that it is just a workout.
Yoga can absolutely build strength, improve mobility, support balance, and benefit physical health — but it is also so much more than exercise alone.

Yoga invites us to breathe, slow down, tune in, and reconnect. It can help us become more aware of how we feel in body and mind, and offer a little space in the middle of busy everyday life.

For many people, yoga may begin as a movement, but it often becomes something deeper — a practice that supports not only the body, but also the nervous system, the mind, and overall wellbeing.

It is not only about what you do on the mat.
It's also about how you feel because of it.

Thats what makes yoga so special🪷

Yoga Myths De-bunked: Myth #1

Using props in yoga are a sign of weakness/ lack of skill/ cheating/ make the pose easier.

Yoga props are often misunderstood.
Blocks, straps, bolsters and cushions are not a sign that someone is less experienced, less flexible, or “not good” at yoga. They are simply tools that support the body and help make the practice more accessible, comfortable, and effective.
Using props can help you find better alignment, create more space, reduce strain, and allow you to experience a posture in a way that suits your body — not somebody else’s.
Many advanced teachers use props to increase challenge. A block can add weight for strength building or be placed in a way that requires more core engagement to maintain balance

In truth, using props is not “cheating” in yoga. It is listening. It is adapting. It is practising with awareness and respect for your own body.
Yoga is not about forcing yourself into a shape. It is about meeting yourself where you are.

Props will always be encouraged & available in my classes.
