Market Weighton Practice Patient Participation Group

Market Weighton Practice Patient Participation Group This page is for everyone who is a registered patient at the Market Weighton GP Practice.

It is a one-way notice board to share information and updates with patients. This page is to share information from the Practice, NHS Humber Teaching Foundation Trust, and other associated Healthcare organisations that may be useful and informative to all registered patientsof the Practice. We do not operate it as a two-way communication tool as it is not operated by medical personnel, but by the PPG, who are non-medical volunteers, nor is it active 24/7. Please contact the Surgery directly for any medical emergencies or complaints.

Do you get repeat prescriptions? If so do you check that what you have ordered is needed? The problem is that many people reorder their regular prescriptions every month without checking what they need and then return unwanted medicines to their pharmacy. Unfortunately returned medicines cannot be reused or recycled. They must be destroyed. This adds up to £26 million of wasted medicines every year – money that your local NHS could use for other vital health services

Did you know the NHS in Humber and North Yorkshire spends £332 million every year on medicines? A huge £265 million of that goes on repeat prescriptions.
