PANIC ATTACK
Have you ever had a panic attack in a completely ordinary situation and had absolutely no idea why?

You are not irrational. You are not broken. And it is not random.
Your subconscious has one job, to protect you and keep you alive. Sometimes it fires the alarm based on a memory from the past rather than what is actually happening now. The good news is that it can be updated. And when it is, the alarm stops sounding.

I have written a blog explaining exactly how this works, with an example that will make everything click into place.

85% of UK students experience exam anxiety.

Exam stress isn't just about nerves. When anxiety kicks in, the brain's survival response takes over, making it genuinely harder to recall information, think clearly, and sleep. It's not a lack of effort. It's the subconscious doing what it thinks will keep you safe.

Using Cognitive Hypnotherapy, NLP and PSYCH-K, I work with students to shift that stress response at the root, so they can walk into exams feeling calm and capable.

I work with young people from age 15 upwards, and many see significant change in just three sessions. πŸ’›

BRAIN FOG is one of the most debilitating things you can experience β€” and one of the least understood.

You go to make a cup of tea and have to think through every single step. You lose your train of thought mid-sentence. Someone asks you a simple question and your mind goes completely blank. It is exhausting, confusing, and for many people, deeply frightening.

Here is what nobody tells you. Brain fog is not random, and it is not permanent. It is your nervous system stuck in fight, flight, or freeze β€” running an old programme that made complete sense during a period of stress, illness, or trauma, but that has got stuck, even though the difficult time has passed.
When the brain perceives danger, it shifts resources away from the logical, thinking part of your mind and into survival mode. And here is the crucial bit β€” it does not always know when the danger is over. So the fog lingers, not because anything is currently wrong, but because the subconscious has not yet been shown that it is safe to stand down.

I have written a full blog explaining exactly what is happening in your brain when you experience fog, why it persists after illness, stress, bereavement or burnout, and what can genuinely help.

If you or someone you know has been struggling with brain fog and not getting any real answers, I hope this gives you the explanation you have been looking for.

Do you know where every toilet is before you even leave the house?
Or maybe your IBS has calmed down, but the fear of it coming back is still quietly running your life. Saying no to days out. Planning every journey around toilet stops. Watching your world get a little smaller each time.

I have just added a new page to my website all about how I work with IBS, and why the subconscious mind is often the missing piece that conventional treatments never reach.

NICE, the body that sets NHS clinical guidelines, actually recommends hypnotherapy for IBS. And research shows 76% of patients saw significant improvement. This is not a fringe therapy; it is clinically endorsed.

If IBS is controlling your decisions more than you are, I would love to have a chat. I offer a free discovery call from my practices in Marlow, Caversham and Reading.

Anxiety isn't a logical problem. It's a subconscious one.

That's why telling yourself to "calm down" or "stop worrying" so rarely works. Your subconscious mind has learned to see certain situations as a threat β€” and until that changes, the anxiety keeps showing up.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy works differently. Rather than just talking through your worries, it gets to the root of why your subconscious learned to respond with anxiety in the first place β€” and gently updates that response to something far more helpful.

In my latest blog post, I cover:
βœ” Why anxiety is so hard to shift with willpower alone
βœ” How Cognitive Hypnotherapy, PSYCH-K and NLP work together
βœ” What to expect and how quickly you might see results
βœ” What my clients have experienced

Most clients notice a real difference after just one session.

And if you'd like to chat about whether this could help you, I offer a free 20-minute discovery call. No pressure, just a conversation.

If you're reading this, there's a good chance anxiety has been making your life harder than it needs to be. Perhaps you lie awake at night with your mind racing, feel that familiar knot in your stomach before certain situations, or find yourself avoiding things you know, logically, aren't actually d...

Even though you've worked hard for your success, something still whispers that you're about to be found out. Sound familiar? 😰

If so, you're in very good company. Imposter syndrome affects around 70% of people at some point in their lives β€” including some of the most successful, accomplished people you can think of.

But here's what most people don't realise: it's not a confidence problem, and it's not a reflection of your actual ability. It lives in the subconscious mind, which is why telling yourself to "think positive" or repeating affirmations never quite shifts it. Your conscious mind knows you've earned your success. Your subconscious just hasn't caught up yet.

That's exactly where Cognitive Hypnotherapy, NLP and PSYCH-K come in. Rather than talking about the problem at a surface level, we go straight to the root, gently reframing the beliefs and experiences that created those imposter feelings in the first place.

Most clients notice real, meaningful change within just a few sessions. πŸ’›
I've written a full blog post about this β€” including what causes imposter syndrome, why positive thinking doesn't work, and how we can change things at a subconscious level.

🍡 Have you tried Matcha yet? Here's my little tip that makes it actually delicious!

I'll be honest β€” when I first tried matcha I nearly gave up on it. That bitter, grassy taste? Not for me! But then a friend told me about the most ridiculously simple trick and I haven't looked back since...

✨ A quarter teaspoon of matcha powder whisked with just a splash (about an inch) of apple or orange juice = the smoothest, most gorgeous little green shot you've ever tasted.

No bitterness. No fuss. Just all the good stuff! πŸ’š

And there really is a lot of good stuff β€” matcha has been celebrated for centuries for its ability to support calm, focused energy (hello, L-theanine!), and it's absolutely packed with antioxidants. As someone who works with the mind-body connection every day, I find it a wonderful little addition to a mindful morning routine.

I've written a full article about matcha on the blog β€” covering its fascinating history, the potential benefits, how to choose a good one, and of course my fruit juice shot tip in full detail. Pop over and have a read!

⚠️ Just a reminder β€” I'm a hypnotherapist, not a nutritionist! The blog article is for general interest only. Always check with a qualified health professional for personalised advice.

STRESS: Why does your heart race during a stressful moment when you're not in actual danger?

Your ancient 'fight or flight' response doesn't distinguish between a life-threatening situation and modern-day stress. Work deadlines, financial worries, or relationship issues trigger the same physical reaction as being chased by a predator.

In my latest article, discover:
✨ How this stress response is triggered
✨ Why you might feel constantly 'on edge'
✨ Practical tips to manage it

Understanding this survival mechanism is the first step to taking control of your stress.

🧠 The Science of Creativity: Your Brain's Natural Medicine

Every time you create something, your brain is doing an incredible dance of neural connections! Creative activities trigger the release of dopamine and serotonin - nature's own antidepressants.

Scientists have discovered that creativity:
β€’ Enhances neuroplasticity (your brain's ability to form new pathways)
β€’ Strengthens memory and problem-solving skills
β€’ Reduces blood pressure
β€’ Boosts immune system function
Ready to give your brain this natural boost? Remember, you don't need to be an artist to benefit - just show up and create!
