Happy Social Prescribing Day! 💚

Today is all about recognising the power of connection — helping people access the right support, at the right time, in ways that go beyond traditional healthcare.

From local groups and activities to practical support and advice, social prescribing is about improving wellbeing by linking people into their communities.

We’re incredibly proud of the work happening across our network, and especially grateful for our fantastic Social Prescriber, who makes a real difference every single day.

Great afternoon at our NHS App drop-in event at Darley Dale Methodist Church on Friday!

We helped over 60 people with a range of queries, from downloading the NHS App and resetting passwords, to ordering repeat prescriptions and accessing services like Patient Knows Best.

A huge thank you to our fantastic volunteers from Connex Community Support, the The Bureau, Glossop and Platform Housing Group. Your support, patience and enthusiasm made all the difference 💚

And a massive thank you to the team at Darley Dale Medical Centre for all your support in making the event such a success.

There was a real buzz in the room and it was brilliant to see so many people getting more confident with digital health tools.

Follow us to stay up to date with upcoming NHS App support sessions and other community health events across the Derbyshire Dales.

Healthy ways to gain weight 💚

Gaining weight can be difficult for some people. With a few changes, you can gradually reach a healthy weight.

Being underweight could mean you're missing out on vitamins and minerals.

This could lead to health problems such as a weak immune system and bone fractures.

📢 Ashbourne 50+ Forum – Public Meeting

Everyone is welcome to attend the next Ashbourne & District 50+ Forum meeting. Despite the name, you don’t actually have to be over 50 to come along!

The session will include:
🐕 A talk on Medical Detection Dogs
🚁 A talk from the Air Ambulance
❤️ A CPR demonstration

The Derbyshire Dales PCN team will also be there to promote the NHS App and help local residents download it, get set up and learn how to use its features to manage their healthcare.

The Ashbourne & District 50+ Forum is part of Derbyshire County Council’s network of local groups, providing a platform to raise local issues, influence decision-makers and connect with organisations supporting the 50+ community and the wider public.

🚗 Parking:
Limited free parking is available at the church and on School Lane (please leave these spaces for those who need them most).
Additional parking is available at the Leisure Centre and Clifton Road car parks nearby.

We hope to see you there!
